You can get an ODB scanner from just about anywhere. I have a bluetooth one that communicates with my phone off...

Check heat shields. If I lug my truck my headers...

Check heat shields. If I lug my truck my headers will vibrate against a heat shield and make horrible noises. A loose heat shield can make all sorts of weird noises!

Id be more inclined that the coolant sensor would actually be the cylinder head temp sensor and make the engine run rich causing poor fuel mileage.
