Sometimes it helps to watch a video. See if there is anything on YouTube about somebody doing what you are working on. You might see they are doing something different from you.

I've never worked on the 4x4 parts, but it sounds to me like you got something too tight.

On trailer axles, if the center spindle nut is on too tight, the wheel will not spin.
