I hope it works well for you. The tensioner on the much more expensive ITM kit failed on me quickly, years ago. So I had to redo the job. :-{

Could be many things, unfortunately. E.g., bad timing chain alignment. But I'd start with a smoke test to check for vacuum leaks, and then test the EGR system.

Probably is something else, but always do an overall inspection and check for easy things. And maintenance that should be done anyway.

Look for another exhaust (or intake; you did change the air filter?) restriction, e.g., dented-in pipe. It has been a long time since I've seen one, but there have been internal exhaust collapses...

One thing to try, on more modern cars, is to disconnect the battery and short together the battery _cables'_ ends (do _not_ short the battery!) for 30 seconds or so. Then reconnect and try starting....

P.S. While working on your pedals, and if you haven't already done so, replace the plastic stop-plug for your brake light switch. It cracks up + falls out suddenly, then kills your battery.

Use PB Blaster to soak the threads overnight, spraying every few hours and tapping the plug with a hammer.
