The heater core replacement is the fother mucker...

The heater core replacement is the fother mucker of all d21 repairs. The entire dash and center console frame has to be removed from the truck. It is every bit of a ten hour job for the first timer.

Pull the passenger seat out and check the codes. If it is a bench seat, you have to take it out. Either way it is only 4 bolts.

The wave plate was inside the early model distributors. Like I said above, I do not know if the newer ones used the same system to break the coil ground so it would fire. I bet it still had some sort...

Are the ground and positive wire the same size? Is it grounded good? If the answer is yes, my guess is the fan motor is pulling too many amps, or a third possibility is the wiring isn’t big enough.

The splice was probably a temp fix for a bad headlight switch. When mine died, I only had one low beam. I did the same trick until I finally bought a good switch.
