What all are you swapping? I am pretty sure teh steering box is very different between 2wd and 4x4. the hard lines are different as well. Pump and reservoir are the same.

I'm running the oem fan and clutch that was used on the 2000 Silverado. Oem shroud, too. However, I had to trim the shroud to stop the air from cavitating.

I was thinking it might be a CV axle. Easy to check if you engage 4LO, lock the hubs, jack up one wheel, and spin it. It should not rotate. If you have a broken CV it will slip and/or pop.

Since we're being irrelevant, here I go; My 5.3 LS-powered Hardbody carries 26 USABLE gallons, gets 13.8 mpg regardless of where I drive it and has a fuel range of 360 miles per tankful.

My solution was to redrill the spring saddles and plates to shift the axle back that little bit. It also helped to keep the rear tires away from the front corners of the fender arches when it flexed...
