You sure they didn't just slap an SE badge on it at the dealership lol? I have wrenched on a 91 SE KC 4x4 that had crank windows and no AC. I think it also had an open differential but I'm not 100%.

It's fine. The LSD additives don't do anything if you have an open differential. No need get the expensive stuff for the rear end. The cheap stuff from walmart or the parts store works just fine.

I use redline mt-90 and overfill by half a quart a quart or so (total 2.5qt). For the 4 banger it's really not necessary but a lot of us do it anyways.

I have used the walmart oil in many vehicles (both dino and synthetic) and have never had any problems. Same for their transmission fluid and gear oils.
