This is the same conversion as someone else did here in a 4x4 truck with the VG30DETT. Nice swap but not a drop in by any means, wiring this would give me a headache. I would love to see someone that has twin turbo'd a VG30i/E but don't think its been done. I just want to know the results good or bad.

Has anyone done a 3.3 swap?

If I were to use the "VG" block I would probably do the 3.3, it came with a few upgrades. The exhaust manifold bolts are better so they don't break off quite as fast but still hear its an issue. I think the 3.3 has a supercharger kit or two available for it at well but its not cheap. I would almost think this kit would fit a VG30 as well but not sure how much of the block really changed (I doubt much).

I think David29 knows the differences between the blocks since he was thinking about that option but don't shoot me if I am wrong.

I'll be looking forward to Z24i info. I'm attempting to put a 1988 D21 back to pretty much stock condition, just as a project I want to do... (hey, us retirement age dudes gotta do something!). I want to use it as a daily driver/ working truck. (For Lead-Footing, I have a modern Dodge with a big 8... a tip o' the hat to the muscle car days of the 60's)... But, I want the D21 to run and look nice. If I can jack up torque some, without going to far off budget... I look forward to it. Thank you!

I found this a while ago for the vg30e and don't really know where to post it. Nice cheap upgrade (only personally when I do this i'll be building a little sheet metal box to isolate the filter from engine air)

Ive read that. Pretty good idea. I have a similar idea for the VG30i. Still need to get around to it or more importantly, order a dang expensive high filtration filter.

I have also been looking at superchargers on TBI. Seems simple enough for low boost. Needs more research.

For the VG30i the single best upgrade is headers. I absolutly love mine.

As for VG33 stuff, why not a VG34 build if you are already going to swap in a VG33. Its a VG33 bottom bored to a 3.4L with VG30 top end. According to the the project pathfinder build it was a beast.

I have. In a 92 SE-V6. Running and driving. Best advice I can give is to start with a Xterra or Frontier VG33e

Engine swap

I have a 1994 D21 with the 2.4 in it. I was thinking about doing an engine swap but dont really want to get in to a bunch of fab work. What is the quickest and easiest engine swap out there. Id love to drop a 350 off in her but not sure the cost of what will have to be changed . Help

Technically the easiest swap would be an engine like a 350 that would not require an engine harness. Regardless of the swap your going to do unless you know how to weld and make custom parts you will need a shop to do the work for you, which can be $$$$. For the 350 the engine/transmission mounts will need some "adjustments" or totally redone. The cost all depends on who you trust to take it to and how much they charge. As a fair warning I would say 50% of the swaps never get completed. You must be fully committed before pulling your old engine out. .

Things to think about are the steering column, brake booster and clutch reservoirs, drive shaft, bigger radiator, this doesn't include probably a custom intake and maybe headers depending on your specific application. I have seen people have to remove the air box and wiper motor but most of these trucks were not daily drivers. The other think I have seen is the drive shaft tunnel needs to be cut up so the bigger transmission will fit and not hit the body.

I would probably do an LSX motor, little harder but not much. This is because you can find aftermarket wiring harnesses and the hot rod guys have done so many that the electronic part is more like finding a place to put the harness and not trying to pin out every sensor known to man. The end result is easier to modify later as well. Unless your putting down 800 HP+ most would like just a bit more.

Based on your post though, I probably would not recommend a motor swap because of the Fab work that is required.
