is there no information on bolt ons for the stock vg30e? where are the major weakness/restrictions on this engine? will it take any boost? maybe use parts from the vg33er? this is just a beater truck, so I'm not trying to get big numbers, just grab the easy gains

pretty much anything the non turbo first gen 3000zx owners are doing you can do. if i had a v6 I would spend some time on their forums also. I have a ka24 and I got all of my turbo info from 240sx forums.

Here is a swap that is fairly simple...
http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/...psaa8f2145.jpg

It's bullet proof, and looks factory installed. Ford 2.3 Turbo out of a Thunderbird. It has the BW T5 attached to it also.

Basic mods include integrated Tbird engine management (harness and ECU), modded Dshaft, engine and tranny mounts, custom exhaust, Walbro 255, Ford fuel lines, slight set back of the shifter, throttle cable, and Ford hydraulic clutch control install. The stock radiator works well!!!
Oh, I forgot, the crossmember below the oil pan has to be slightly modded for clearance, but it is an easy job since it unbolts...

It is almost a drop in once the engine mounts are set up.

The truck runs low 15s at the 1320, and on the hiway, it is almost scary. I have dusted Hemi trucks, many ricer Hondas and lots of American stuff (on the hiway). The engine is pretty much stock with no intercooler (yet). The powerband is right there when you are doing 55 - 60. Drop into 3rd, and the truck blasts off...

Even an NA 2.3 Ford 4 banger is totally bullet proof. There is big aftermarket support for these engines - headers, 4 barrel intakes, pistons, cams, heads and ignition systems.
And... best parts, they are belt driven cam and CHEAP to buy/run.

Link to your build has been added, just wondering since you have done a few HWY miles, whats the fuel economy if you happen to know.

Killer Scoob, nicely done!

How about the other KA booster, the KA24DE-R. It's the supercharged cousin to the KA-T.

http://www.ka24der.com/

Uses an Eaton M62 supercharger used in the xterra and I think the desert runner. There a custom adaptor made for the DE motors. I don't think there is anything for the single cam guys though. The SC has no lag since it's belt driven and is very responsive. Space for it might be an issue if tubbed for big wheels. The motor will have to be able to handle it just if it was a turbo. Fortify the head and block would be a wise choice.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Still no dam supercharger kit for us vg30e guys

Deerhurst 07-03-2014 01:36 AM

No. There was a supercharger compatible intake manifold designed for the VG30i at one point but he only made a couple and then sold the patent to a company that is just sitting on it.

Whats the difference in a VG33 manifold?

94nissan 07-04-2014 08:16 PM

And then, i think that company went out of business

A guy on the NPORA forum did a VG30TT swap into his pathfinder, link here:

and it does fill the whole engine bay !!

Ya. No. I wanted to put a turbo on mine, and then was told by four other pple that it was too nice to hack it up and turbo it
