Push to start?
Has anyone ever thought or tried to put a key less push to start ignition in a hardbody? I was thinking about going to the scrap yard to get an old Altima or Maxima push to start system. If Iím being unreasonable please let me know and Iíll move onto my next idea.

There used to be a guy in the Ratsun group on Facebook selling kits for that. He may have also been on the ratsun forum.

I’ve had to push to start a few in my time....just not the way you’re talking about lol

The OE Nissan keyless start will likely be extremely complex and will require the immobilizer key which will be difficult to find at the yard and and/or ECU coding. An aftermarket system like linked above will be much easier to install. Perhaps you could use the Nissan button for an OE appearance, but I don't know that it would match the Hardbody interior that well either. Nissan changed their interior font by the time those came about.

Yes those immobilizers and keys are a pain. I am currently working on an 03 Honda accord. Expensive to rekey them. They used to have a device for 50.00 that would allow you to rekey. Not 50.00 anymore. Now it is 200.00. I just removed all the levers and using same key. The car, the key and the immobilizer all have to be on the "same page" for vehicle to start in the newer ones.

So, not worth the effort then... That’s what I am summarizing.

I don't think it would be that hard to do if you dug into it since we don't have immobilizers and coded keys on these trucks. It would be pretty sweet to have one.

Using OE parts wouldn't be worth it, but aftermarket is cheap and easy.

Here's the installation instructions from an eBay link. Wouldn't be difficult to install.
