junkyard score of the day

hey guys and gals, i have got a new thread idea. lets post up our local junkyard scores of the day.

i got an alert from the LKQ yesterday. a white 93 D21 with a blue interior was added to the yard yesterday morning. smashed in the front and rear. looked good from the pics. i drove around all day just knowing i was gonna get there today to a destroyed truck.

WRONG.

this thing didnt have a mark on the interior, other than the dome light cover being missing and the stereo gone, and one sharpie mark on the passenger door panel.

i went ape shit. i scored a 95% mint blue dash pad for 25 bucks. it has one small crack that i can repair. i also got both of the mint XE style door panels. i have all but given up on finding decent SE panels for now, but i will still keep looking.

i also snagged the AC control panel trim and the AC switch, and the defrost vents. we also kept every screw and bolt from pulling the dash. also got a 4 banger gear shift knob.

got that shit out the door for 60 bucks....got the ac switch and gear shift for free seeing how it fit in my jacket pocket lol

there was also a mint glove box and pretty decent steering wheel and a beautiful single cab headliner. the bench seat looked new. also got OEM blue Nissan floormats.

like i said, i have been waiting and waiting and it finally went in my favor today.

Now we have to keep Lund visors on our look for lists, since they are almost impossible to find.

gotta clean the mats. im gonna get a pic of the daskpad tomorrow. it got dark and i had to put my stuff up............i had to do the driver valve cover on the lexus and i was chasing a stupid code 15 on that lexus too. no ignition signal returned to the ECM so it wasnt firing. it also had a broken lock on the coil wire too and a damn broken primary coil connecting wire harness.

Wow! Congrats. I WISH I could find some tan door panels that look that nice. Glad it paid off for you.

just keep digging. it took me 4 years to find some that were good.

do you have a pull a part near you? LKQ has an email feature that will alert me when the vehicles im looking for arrive on the yard for parts selling.

Not related to the mats but is that the infamous lexus in the background? Those were so far ahead of their time when new.

yes sir. 1994 LS400, rear wheel drive with the quad cam 1uzfe v8. that car is a highway monster. we picked it up in aug of 2015 for 2500 bucks. the lady who owned it traded it off as it needed a lot of work....struts, brakes and rotors, tires, timing belt and water pump, the oil pan drain plug was stripped, valve cover gaskets were leaking....

yeah its been a work in progress. but man does that thing love the highway. its a cruiser. i have had it to over 110 and it was still pulling strong. its still one of the safest cars on the road today, and it was in the top 5 in the 90s.

I've heard them described as a japanese Mercedes, kind of like an avalon is a japanese Buick, lol. My camry is the same way - it loves the freeway. My folks bought it basically brand new and after 16 years and 210k miles handed it off to me. Other than brakes and normal maintenance it has needed nothing. Doesn't leak or burn any oil and still drives like it did when it was new. Maybe one day I will drop a 5 speed into it.
