Fuel Pump and Assembly

3 Attachment(s)
Hello I have a 1991 Nissan Hardbody. I recently purchased this as a project because Iíve always loved the hard body trucks.

The fuel was left in the tank for about 10 years. I donít have much knowledge on the fuel pump and assembly however the one I pulled looked terrible I will attach photos.

Iíve found a few replacement assemblies however they are Japan made and this one is American made. Iím looking for an American made and I canít seem to find one! Will a japan made still work?

VIN: 1N6SD11S3MC406097

Any help would be much appreciated. Please look at the imagines do I even need a new one?

These are Japanese trucks. Even the ones assembled in Tennessee are made with Japanese parts. If you are looking at an American fuel pump, it is likely a replacement part.

So this should work then?

Amazon should say if it fits. It says it does not fit my 1994 truck. The fuel pump assembly changed through the years. Very minor.

If you get it and it doesn't fit, Amazon accepts returns in 30 days.

Before you buy any parts for your truck at Amazon, you should register it in your account there. My Vehicles or whatever. Answer all the questions. You will be fine, for the most part, thereafter. Do the same at eBay.

Thank you both for the response. Amazon say it does fit. The only thing that concerned me was the for “Japan made” talking about if you vin doesn’t start with a J. But like you said I thought they used the same parts for both. But hey it’s amazon if it’s not correct I can send it back can’t hurt to try because I can’t find this “American” sender unit anywhere.

Nah...it should work fine for you. I checked it Amazon too, using your parameters and engine size.

And brother...it's a good thing it DOES, cause that old fuel pump looks like shit. :bang:

My guess is that water condensation was a frequent visitor to your gas tank. Sometimes this can be caused by poorly-transported ethanol-added fuel, or an owner who liked to run on the almost-empty edge a lot of the time.

Holy bejeezus, that's one gnarly fuel sender. I can't even...

I hate to be a nitpick, but even Nissan, and d21 era parts, some are China made shit.

Thanks guys for the support. It should come in tomorrow. The fuel tank to my surprise actually looks pretty good. Any suggestions on properly cleaning it? The gasket looks in good shape however would you suggest changing that as well? I did do some research and they said use b12. Thanks in advance for the advice.
