high angle steering knuckles, d21 d22
UPDATE: On line store created.
order yours at http://Missileworksllc.com Cores not required about the parts these are tig welded pieces and require hardly any fabrication for installation. i dont have angle numbers yet, but i will tell you they far surpass the 37* steering i once had, they make your steering alot more responsive but as a trade off it is harder to turn, and will be tough on your tires. 1. you will need to trim your old steering stop out. 2. you will need an alignment. 3. you might have to bang out your wheel wells (i dont have inner wheel wells so i dont know). 4. Kits will come with extended brake lines pics these are the parts before modification http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4396.jpg this is how i trimmed my steering stop http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...IMG_4395-1.jpg how they look post weld http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4404.jpg post paint http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4405.jpg installed http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4406.jpg steering angle pics http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4398.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4399.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4401.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4402.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4407.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...a/IMG_4408.jpg track tested!!! http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...sa/zoepic2.jpg http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h3...sa/zoepic4.jpg |
Damn that's CRAZY! Good job bro
thanks man
That's cool. The only problem I see is that if you have drop spindles, you're beat. Mine are all one piece.
if you send me drop spindles im sure me and my welder eric can make it work
Dude, that looks good, but I hope you welded it with the right rod, those are cast and if not welded right will snap right off under load.
there done proper my friend
That's good, jus lookin out for ya.
thanks im gonna get a disk brake adapter from you soon

ok original post has been edited i have had a chance to track test the knuckles and they ROCK!!!
normally i would have to pick my line really carefully and normally push a really shallow line, with these i was able to swing alot wider with alot more angle.. pretty much just let go of the wheel, counter over, and it held its own line perfect!!!! a ton more forgiving with these. |
dude ,im so going to get mine done like this. thanks man. i love the diy ideas and thinking out of the box. keep it up .im also a believer in building a low budget drifter. after all we do it to have fun.
okay im a little confused on where you are welding on the knuckles. can i goet like side by side shot of a factory one and your high angle one?
you cant tell by the pics on the first page? i dont understand what your confused about, we take the stock knuckles and bring the tie rod mount in towards the hub a little over an inch
So what is stopping your wheels from turning further at this point?
The frame has always been my fav stopper lol
Ive got 255/65/16 and they stop by hitting the frame with stock steering... of course if i used spacers or a better offset it wouldnt be an issue. I am one of the few, stock ride height tall tire crew. lol |
I ment to ask, with the modified knuckles, what stops it? Tires hitting frame or tension rods or what?
steering gear box stops it. im about 1/2" from my tire hitting my tc rod
nice work
These are amazing pejsa! I'll get with you once I want to change mine over. what's the offset on your steelies?
15x8.5 0-offset
quick question... what are those coilovers you got on the front? I have been looking for something like that since I got my truck. My truck came lowered on the torsion bars and pinto shocks, but it rides to soft for me. thanks.
edit: this is related to the coilovers in the pictures here, I saw your build thread and now it's all custom. If you still have these somewhere, I could take them off your hands if the price is right. |

Why are these harder on tires? like they where out faster for daily drivin or just drifting?
It a little hard on the tires due to the extra angle at full lock causes the tires to scrub a little. And the ackerman angle is changed. Causing more wear in the inside tire while turning in either direction.
oh okay will this wear out tires noticably faster?
From my experience drifting..... yes! But if your buying drift car parts you don't complain about buying tires..... daily driving tire wear was a little accelerated. And with my truck having a welded diff. That was just adding the the wear. Everyone is going to have different results due to driving habbits and other vehicle modifications.
Why don't you modify the jig to have a little less ackerman then, that much ackerman on the following wheel isn't wanted. Especially considering it has more angle than the leading wheel, you want a little less angle on the following wheel to help with wheel return during transitions.
There is less turn in on the following wheel. It would be almost physically impossible to have the leading wheel turn less than the other....
Must be the pictures, seems like your trailing wheel has more angle. Might be because I can see the rim face though.
Still making these
I live out hee in socal iv seen you drift Adams sideways Sunday
If I where to dive to you and take these in how long would they be done |
I live in colorado now. So you would have to mail them
so I made my own knuckles by looking at your thread dude I love the way they feel on the track I could swing out as wide as I want and not spin out and keep going on my little single ham (KA)
Update in original post. Now you can purchase off my website and I don't require cores to be sent to me.
I'll be putting 2" drop spindles on my HB as soon as I get my truck ready to touch the ground again. Would you be able to mod the spindles for me? I saw a few posts about people wanting to send you their drop spindles but haven't seen anything yet on weather or not you figured out how to make it work. If it's possible let me know. Thanks!
It's absolutely possible for me to do. Pm me if your serious
