i have a 87 mazda 323 1.6l efi hatchback, i bought it for a 150 bux body is perfect so i thought i could fix it up but hasnt ran since 96.

theres no power to the fuel pump, replaced the fuel pump check the power connectors to it but no power, used a after market pump directly to the battery, no start still i check the fuel lines and fuel filter all clean.open the fuel rail and theres gas, fuel pressure is strong.waiting on new injectors, but im stumped cuz the previous owned bought a fuse panel that goes under the dash,i wonder why, i hate not knowing what happened but the original owner passed away, any ideas i know its electrical cuz when i crank the car and spary starting fluid into the throttle body it revs nice but when i stop spraying it dies.all fuses are good so im really irritated at this point.

check relays, the fuel pump has its own relay, and im pretty sure mazda uses a relay for the fuel injection system. test all the relays, and test all the sensors too.

funny thing is theres no fuel pump fuse or anything only for the injectors would bypassing the in tank fuel pump cause the car not to start due to no power to it in the first place?

The afm is a trap door style and kicks on the fuel pump when cranking. If you turn the key on expecting power to the fuel pump you wont get it until you flick the trap door inside the afm open. Just take your intake box off and hold open the trap door and see if it kicks on the fuel pump. Toyotas were the same way in the 80's. g/l. peace.
