Tore the wifey's Xterra gauges and my Frontier gauges apart this past weekend to change the colors. I got the idea on another forum. These have red and orangish colors from the factory and are hideous IMO. So I made em red and blue - like a VW haha.

The blue is deeper than it looks in the cell pic. It is darker and not so light, looks much better in person. I also reversed the LCD screen with polarizing film. I de-soldered the old orangish LEDs and soldered in the new blue ones. The LEDs are 1206 SMD and come in a variety colors. Now I need to tackle the Heater controls and window switches. As far as I know they do not make any gauge kits for them only a white face inlay I found on ebay which I hate.

Amber loves it, she is the main reason I did this. She misses her jetta gauges and hated the orange too. She had me do my cluster before hers though so I wouldn't f hers up lol.
total cost was less than 20 bucks :thumb: I had to get a soldering pen but I needed one anyways after my other one burnt up. I will try to get a better pic with my camera. The cell just doesn't cut it. To bad its still gonna look stock all day at the shows.

Not to jack the thread, but remember how you stopped by saturday and suggested we switch the calipers on that full size? I shaved some of it down and they bolted up... BUT the bleeder valve was at the bottom of the caliper and guess what? We loaded up the piston in the caliper with air when we tried bleeding them... The truck is still sitting in my driveway. We got it figured out now though.

Looks sweet! I saw a group buy deal on somewhere that never happened, as always lol. If I had the know-how I def. do that. I take loooong road trips and those colors really wear you out vs. keeping you alert.

Do you have a write up, parts list for how you did this? Looks awesome, I would love to change all my stuff to blue.
