Here is my new project I am working on. I have neglected far to long with restoring my house. Its not much, but its paid for for the last 13 years. When I first bought it, I was gung ho and doing it. I havent done much since 2002. Here are some things I have done.
Several weeks ago I did some paneling until I ran out of the white color. Had just enough to finish the room I was doing.
Rebuilt my front steps to my deck. A whole lot safer now.

New driveway got started. Started with the forms last Sunday.

Phase 3 is now complete. Thanks to not getting the rain that was forecast for yesterday. Very high chances but not a drop. If it had rained, I would have had to tear down part of the forms to get my enclosed trailer out for my out of town trip to New Braunfels for a 4 day swap meet.
We got our 2 dogs to run through the sidewalk after the cat did it on his own.
Enjoy again.

My sons 87 King cab waiting for a new motor. Last weekend we pulled it of the back to the front. During the week he pulled the gas tank. WHEW!! Nasty old gas in it. This weekend he put on his chrome handles and mirrors.

I had to use it the other night to fix my AC. Drove it up the ramps to access the compressor. Boy was it nice not to have to lay in the dirt or have the ramps sink in the dirt.

Phase 5 is now complete. This section makes 40' long of driveway. Another 5 and 1/2 feet to go and the sidewalk. Both probably will take 2 yards.
Damn sure was hot this morning. Normally I go and get one load at a time. This time, I got both loads at one shot thanks to my bro who helped. We were all done by noon instead of 3 or 4. My wife took these shots as we were hard at work.
Enjoy the pics.

Got some more work done on my driveway and sidewalk. I am through digging out the hard as hell rocky area. My hands are killing me from chipping this shit out. Its about 3.5" deep now so fuck it. Its deep enough.
Just gotta finish the rebar and set one form tomorrow night.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00349.jpg
This is the sidewalk area. I still need to put in the chairs to prop up the rebar which I completed after I took this pic.

Yes it was my first time to do this. All the forms and rebar were bought, put together and assembled by me. I asked alot of questions and got info out of a home improvement book my mom got me. Some things I would do a little different next time. But on the most part, it wasnt that bad. Getting both loads at once is the better way to go.

Hey did you get my latest list of parts numbers for prices? I may have to call you Monday.

No, my mom gave a me a hardback home improvement book for my birthday after I got my house. It covers alot of issues with fixing, doing, replacing everything to do with a house.
To answer your question though, your local hardware store will have what you need as far as books. Hell even your local library will have these books.

Well the last phase of my project is now complete. I am one whooped puppy. What turned out to be, what I thought would be the easiest, ended up being the most pain in the ass. First I bought too much concrete by about 3/4 of a yard. Then the ass clown at the rental place mixed it too dry to start. This shit has about 2 hours before you have to get it where it needs to be.
I found a place for the extra. It isnt pretty but will do for now. If all else I will let it crunch up after driving on it, scoop it up and put it in the back where I plan to add onto the new shop I built. Enjoy the pics.

New sidewalk.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00352.jpg
Last section of actual driveway. I still have to back fill the other side of the form with some bag asphalt after removing the forms.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00353.jpg
This is my other driveway. I put the rest right on top of the other stuff I put down before. We smoothed it the best we could after I broke the bull float.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00354.jpg
From the street. The whole driveway shot.

This is me. The whooped puppy I was referring to. Not quite done yet. Still pressed on.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/IMG00055.jpg
This is what happens when the guys dont listen to you on how you want the concrete. 2 or so hours of pressure washing. Dirty fucking job, but hey I got my $75.00 deposit back.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/IMG00069.jpg
This is my brother. The other whooped puppy. He is older than I, but tried to hang. Thanks a lot bro, couldnt have done it without you.

Trust me. It wasnt easy. He not lazy my any means. He is just selective who he helps and when.
When I first asked him, I got the, "I dont know whats going on". Then he never got back to me. I got my wife to tell his wife I needed the help. So his wife made him more or less. Heres the thing. I have bent over backwards to help him in many pinches. He seems to forget a lot when it comes time to reciprocate. That is why "THE BEAST" never got built. Some of you know what I mean by that.
Of course during part of the process of helping me, he brought up he could have worked today at his normal job. I didn even respond.
Now my tired ass is taking him out to eat. Last weekend he helped and I fed his ass good. Tonight will be even better cause he worked his ass off today.

I just got back from our local BBQ place. Damn was it good.
I could have used one extra pair of hands but my wife had plans already and my son was at work. Finally back to work at his old job. Now we can get his truck going soon.
After we got just about done, my father in law shows up. His only day off on a Saturday in awhile. He used to help me with projects like this but has some age on him and is in the heat all the time doing what he does.
Of course I razzed him about showing up after the work was done. He just saluted me with a beer.:nana1:
