Figured I'd start my thread. I've got a 99 pathfinder, 305 SB Chevy, Indpendent Rear out of a 240 SX. Nothing is installed yet. Just need my 5 lug 22"s then sending down to KEEFs Rod n Custom in late summer to start the bodydrop.

How are u gonna body drop it? That year is a unibody. Are u gonna build a full frame? Or jsut modify the body?

They will be building a full frame and probably going to have to traditional over it is the only way I can see it work, but he can do dang near anything so I wouldn't be surprised if I came out with a SFBD... there's a lot of height to the floor, enought to fit a frame under for sure, just depends on how he goes about it I guess.

I'm leaving it in his hands, I'm just an interior/ audio guy. I wish I could get into welding at a good enough caliber to do it myself

I haven't spoken to him. I have my mind set of KEEF. him and I go back a few years and I think real highly of his work. I don't doubt ICE's abilities but I would say I'm set on John and his shop doin my build.

Cool deal keep us posted. You do know with 22s youll be tubbing into the rear doors quite abit.... You might not be able to roll the windows down much at all. but cant wait to see it

afro
03-03-2010, 05:44 PM
haha yeah I've been lookin at that. I'm hopeful I'll still be able to though, since the window that rolls up and down (there's two windows on the rear doors) is kinda offset to the front of the vehicle. But if not, we'll figure somethin out. Don't think I wanna do 20"s though, so this will have to work

pugz
03-03-2010, 05:57 PM
ya i only say that cuz i know that dekay had to tub into his door jamb a lil on 20s and its not bodied

i want to see you do it. i want to see one bodied. jsut trying to help ya out

I'd love to see another Pathy build but I have to seriously question the logic of hacking up a sound unibody to fit a seperate frame for just street and show use.

And there's reason to question it. But like I said, I don't know exactly how he's going to accomplish it, just that he's going to accomplish it...

fuck yea!!!! about time somebody else atempted one, im tired of being the only one.:thumb:

but yes, if you want to go any lower than what mine is, you will have to do a frame, which could be done, but in the end there will be nothing left "pathfinder" but the body. and door jambs will need serious tubbing and latch relocation, and no rear bench seat either(my drive shaft is right at the bottom of the seat(ive actually trimmed some foam out to fit it.)

i hope you got deep pockets, cause this is a shit tonne of work.

Oh no doubt itll be a money pit. But now is as good of a time than ever. Nobody else takin my money yet. I'm doing a ton of trade work for it so thats helping offset costs. Been watchin your ride for about a year now, which has helped me get some ideas. I'm stoked aboutn this build finally now that the truck broke down and i had to buy a daily, didnt take long for me to start getting some minor things done

Yes it's kinda dirty from sanding the gaskets off with the dye grinder, but I saw it run before tearing it down, I'm sure I've got a solid motor.

It'll be powdercoated to match the rest of the paint on the truck, and some chrome.

This build sounds like it could be some fun.
But on a serious note, ditch the 305 and go with the 350. You will be glad you did.

If it was me I would just extend the rocker panels (like ground effects) to the ground and be done with it cheap and easy sheet metal or fiberglass job. Second choice, though I haven't seen the bottom of one, would be cut and raise the floor board. Adding a frame is just redundant.

I would like to see a unibody that had a frame added just to see what design problems they thought it would cure that couldn't be done to what is basically a tube frame chassis.

Motor Gone. Now it's time to focus on getting it to the shop late this summer. Probably won't be doing much else til it gets there. I will probably do some fiberglassing on it but not much

not much to say really. Been tossing around the idea of going with the 350Z motor since I love the sound, and I have the full exhaust at my disposal if I want it. but I honestly I want to keep it clean and simple under the hood, so I may pass.

I'm about to start glassin the pods for the 2 sets of 6.5" component sets going in the front doors. Can't really mess with the rears til I find out how much they'll have to be tubbed. But MAN I love Nissan doorpanels being built off of a flat board, that way it's so much easier to build what I'm building for them. I'll post pics up once I have the passenger door going.

hope everyone's show season is going well, I'm ready for showfest!!!:nana2:

Damn it feels like forever since I've been back on this site. I've taken a job in Northwest Arkansas for a lot more money, so things are lookin up. I've bought a Chrysler 360 for this project and the 305 is still in Memphis and going to a buddy's Hombre project. I've just gotten the Heads back from the shop today and some Billet valve covers, stainless bolt kit, and Chrome Oil Pan came in. So the motor gets some reassembly this weekend, then take it down to a short block and send to the shop to get inspected and magnafluxed.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l268/primerado/IMG_0458.jpg

Motor is Bored .030 and I'm planning on a Comp Cams Magnum kit with Cam, Springs, Timing Chain, and Lifters.

Changed up to 20"s to keep it a lil cleaner. Those will be around Feb, then off to lay rocker

Truck still sits as in the previous pic in north MS, but we will be trailering it up here around the first of Nov.

Still recovering from the move since it was unexpected but shouldn't be too much longer.

You and me both. The motor buildup is gonna consume me for a bit, but after that it's just 20"s and I'm ready to go.

The whole KEEF thing is not an official decision or anything, when the time comes, I'll either choose him or Dustin Self, two incredible fabricators.

I've got enough to keep me occupied right now so I'm not worried about the fabricator situation. I consider both guys to be buds of mine, so any decision for one isn't personal towards the other.

It's almost time for wheels I hope! Money situation is looking OK, I had to dip into the wheel fund to pay for christmas and then soon taxes on this thing. We shall see where I sit in about a month or two.

Few things have been going on with this build:
1) I now have 4 bucket seats
2) Motor is almost complete, just need cam kit and carb, and a few more billet pulleys
3) Will be ordering wheels this week.
4) Just got a 727 Torqueflite tranny
5) acquired drop spindles (s-10)
6) Am a little bit short on the bodydrop price, so shouldn't be a helluva lot longer, shooting for May.
7) Don't have any new pics of the motor, haven't been out to it in a few months. Most new parts have been sitting in my apt since I got them (Harmonic Balancer, Intake, Billet Crank Pulley, Alternator, Water pump. etc). Sending motor off soon to get put together by someone with the right tools.

Tired of seeing the KMC Nova everywhere, so I had the wheel choice changed to a new Gianelle.
