kind of off topic, but are a member on Termpro? Because Jay, the previous owner of my truck was the one doing a bunch of strange still motion stories with the Fusion aliens in your Ava on there.

look for an RB25 out of a GT-S R33 skyline that should be RWD

To use the RB26 motor in a RWD setup, you would need to source the RB25 Transmission. I can get them, but they are not cheap at all. Your best bet is to go with a RB25 or even the RB20 is a good canidate to work with.

i think the sr has more parts available than the rb20, but i think the rb 20 can produce more hp

RB will be able to make more power hands down if your looking to build it up completely and money is no object. But the SR motor has just as much potential as an RB, minus 2 cylinders. Also I can easily get SR parts anyday of the week, RB parts I have to wait for shipping from Japan.

What are you trying to accomplish HP wise?

im shooting 4 600 at the moment and when i build it i will have alittle over 13k to do it with but that will be in 4 years

Than go with the SR, parts are cheaper and easier to get.

wuts like the max hp i can get out of the sr20 and wut kind of turbo is the best to use

any particular reason you want 600 HP? My HB is scary with 350hp

And how do you plan on getting the power to the ground? Even with a good IRS setup 600hp and you'll likely be blowing halfshafts apart. Strong solid axle (Dana 60 or similar) and a spool with some really sticky tires will be your best bet but I guarantee you will be breaking transmissions or driveshafts with that setup.

If it's drifting that interests you, you can do it with way less than 600

I have seen 1000+hp SR motors.

As for turbo, I just gotta calculate some numbers and get you the right size turbo.

I dont know bro, I'll crunch some numbers and try to get you the best deals I can. Let me figure it out what I can do and get back to you.

if your worried about needing a good rear end use the skyline or 300zx rear end they both are really similar and are lsd and the halfshafts are pretty much indestructible. people have put down over 900 hp through a stock diff and halfshafts in a lot of different zs

Then he would have to do a IRS setup and alot cash. What I would do is get a Dana 60 or ford 8.8 build that up with some strong axles, spool, and the right gearing. And he's good to go

like i said it will b atleast 4 years b4 i start this build so i will take all ideas on it i want to drag race on the weekends just to have some fun and keep me out of trouble but i get 35k when i turn 25 which is in 4 years but i will only have about 13k to build the truck up

If you are wanting to drag race, then definetly go with a solid rear axle. I would go with a 8.8 out of a Ford Exploder and they can be had for about $75-100 and a junkyard.

wont that b a little wide on the rear end or r the about the same size as the hb axles

Monster2TG

I dont know if its the same or not, but you can always cut them down to size and send the axles to Moser to get them resplined and you good to go. I really like using the exploder rear cause some of them come with disk breaks, and they are 5lug already. I have a 8.8 in my Corolla which only has 280whp, but if I plan to upgrade the motor in the future, I already have the strong diff in there to handle the motor.

So wait, you didnt know you can use a rb25 transmission to make a RWD rb26...
You didnt know that there is other versions of the RB motor (20,25,26 and 30), by asking what you just asked, you didnt know you could shorten axles..

And your wanting to build a 600hp harbody?

Now lets start off here.

The rb series is a great engine, from the SOHC rb30e to the DOHC rb20det. Now one problem they have is being an inline 6 it will be one hell of a tight fit into the hardbody(d21) engine bay. This is evident by looking at how cramped a 240sx engine bay is, and they are longer than the d21.

The sr20 is also a very good engine, it lacks in TQ but can more than make up for it with the ability to spool pretty big turbos. The up side to this is its an I4 and would possibly give you enough room to run a V-mount set-up for better air flow.

I dont know what engine your truck has, but both stock engines are actually great power plants. The vg30 has been proven time and time again. The ka24 how ever is a new comer in the HP game but it has left its mark fast and hard. With ka24de's far past the 1,000hp range now.

So there is alot of food for thought there.

Now for rears, you also have a few choices. Using a solid axle dana or 8.8/9" ford, or swapping to an r200 IRS from a 240sx/300zx... The upside to the solid axle is accessability and ease of finding parts.

Now IRS also has its upsides but seeing as you want to build a drag truck, you dont want to go this way... If you compare some high HP solid axle(mustangs and camaros) to the newer high hp IRS(gto,240sx) the IRS really lacks on putting down a good 60' due to wheel spin...

And honestly a 600hp HB is going to be extremely fast, my 210hp ka24e-t was a monster in my little single cab HB... So you might wanna take that into cosideration also.

Monster is def a good person to look at for builds, i consider him, myself and nismopu as well as a few others to be some of the more knowledgeable motor heads on the site... Alot of the others dont really reach and and speak to much.

Good luck with what ever you decide man..
