Can you paint over chrome? I want to paint my bumper black. I was thinking if I scuffed it up real, well then primer it, before painting it. The bumper should look good.

ive been told by the shrewin williams paint rep that if you scuff it very good with a red scuff pad then use etching primer (i for got the number ill get it for you when i get to work) then paint like normal that it will stick pretty good h tried it on his bumper and painted it body color 4 years ago and it is still sticking good and no chips or flakes but the manufacter does not recommend it and will not warrenty the paint

ok mthe shrewin williams number is e2g973 i dont know about the other brands being that i only use hok and sherwin

any body shop paint supplyer that can get or carrys sherwin can get it for you

why not just buy a A/M bumer in black for like 50-60 bucks

certifit one piece black bumper new style is 51.68 at certifit only 39.75 if you get them to sell it shop price

you can do it, i did my bump on my fronty. hit it with 80 grit real good and 2 coats of K-36 (PPG) sanded and painted. that was 5 years ago

I thought about buying a black one. But i dont know if im gonna like it. And the one i have is kinda beat up. So, if i dont like it i can order the chrome one because it needs replaced anyways.

I have 2 chrome 3 piece right now but im thinking about going all paint int the front bumper grille etc and even handles / mirrors so im probably going to get that bumper from certifit. The quality of a/m parts is alot better now then it used to be.
