Has anyone done a rotary motor swap into a 720 or HB? I thought that it might be kinda cool.

na ive thought about it plenty of times tho considering ive done them to damn near everything else....mainly smaller cars like a starlet, civic, or oldskool corolla's(late 70's early 80's models) or doing up 1st gens.

The only problem i see is that the engine are only good for about 75,000 mile or so. before you really start having problems with them. We were gonna put one in a courier but decided against it due to reliablity issues. just my .02 cents

I would stay away from the rotard motors if you want a reliable truck to drive around and take on long trips. Rotards can make good power, but reliability goes down the toilet. Throw a EFI KA24DE or SR/VQ35/3SGTE/4AGZE/etc. The VQ are great motors and something I havent seen done on a 720 yet.

You wanna build a sik motor for a 720 or even an hb try this on for size

Toyota 4AG
Displacement : 1600 CC 13.5 TO 1 C/R
Stroked : 81MMX77MM
TRD ATLANTIC IN 278/11MM EX 272/10.5MM cams
MAHLE 81MM Pistons
TRD valves
TRD valve springs
Pectel T6 ECU
Bosch 803 injectors
TRD Atlantic ITB's
Coast Fabrication exhaust
Hasslegren Racing header
Hasslegren Racing cam gears
BOSCH F2CS spark plugs
Fluidyne radiator
Hasslegren Racing 3-STAGE DRY SUMP SYSTEM
TRD racing transmission
CUSCO 2-WAY LSD

Thats going to be an expensive motor Ryan:D I can make copies of that motor, but with my own twist to it and it will make more power than the Formula Atlantic 4AG motors.

But I mentioned the 4AGZE cause its supercharged with 160hp and can be had for $900 complete and add an extra $100 for the rwd tranny he would need to buy from me. Then its all in fabbing motor mounts/trans mount, wiring, fuel plumbing, and I/C plumbing. Should be a decent motor since I know the 720 dont way to much, and if he wanted to go turbo, he can rip off the supercharger set up and sell it. Then piece together a turbo setup, cause the 4AGZE already is built for boost and can handle up to 17psi before I would open it up and rebuild it for more power. Sorry about the long post, but I can go on forever:rofl:

I just love those atlantic motors, i know they go for a ton most of the true atlantic motors are runnin in the price range of 40,000 bones lol, but this setup is good for 250HP, not too shabby especially in the 10,000 rpm range. but you know when it comes to toyota motors i like them non boosted, my old sileighty was boosted that was the one i tried getting in to F.D. with but that didn't turn out too well

This truck has a rotary, I believe it was mostly for clearance for the stock hood.
