So I'm afraid. The tie rods on the 05 LE CC are popping and snapping bigtime. I don't have big wheels(18 NISMOs), but I drive her gently HARD. I pulled the wheels off and pulled and tugged hard on the steering to see if there was any play-nope. No tears in ball joints or tierod ends. I even thought-'Fuck-is the rack loose' -nope.
But if I rub (gawd forbid) a curb and it pulls the wheel-pop! If I turn hard at low speed-pop! You really get it if you lock the steering wheel once the key is out...hella pop!
Anyone else have an issue? I haven't seen a TSB, and this monkey only has 39k.

I have replaced a couple steering shafts and upper columns in d40s. Get your head under the dash and see if it sounds like its coming from column. Also wiggle your steering wheel side to side see if it has play.

that or make sure your sway bar bushings are good. one of my bolts holding the bar on was just gone causing some issues

Steering shaft is good-thanks for the suggestion. I am suspiscius of the sway bar end links-great suggestion. I'll get there...mainly when its rolling. Cant get it to 'pop' when parked turning the wheel. Teaching my 5 year old son to turn the wheel...kinda scary having my head up in it while motor running...my boy cranking the wheel back and forph. Of course it never does it when you need it to!!!

I do believe theswaybar was the issue--I know that fucker was bent on the passenger side after it got totalled...but I also know they didn't replace it! The links should be a perfect 'z'of two 90 degree angles. Mine are cranked...meaning those fuckers just bent the sway bar to match. Caliber collison sucks a dirty dick!
