Lets try this again!
Ok, i really hated to have to do this but I really dont have a choice at this point. If you read my old thread, the Tahoe kit was missing alot very vital pieces to the truck not looking like crap so i was forced to move to another kit, but thats cool with me.
My new ride in the works is a 1997 Chevy Blazer 2-door and as of now the plan is layin body, full frame and "scale" 22's. Look for pics tomorrow....

I am doin this for me and putting the pics in the build off for the fun of it......I will begin tearing into this one this week and should have pics soon enough.

another s10, nice. I looking for a square body 4 door blazer model

tacochris
01-13-2010, 11:42 PM
They actually make that kit but if I am not mistaken it will be a square body GMC jimmy and not a Blazer, but I believe with very little work you could mate the square body S10 front end with the GMC and make what you need.

First of all...sorry sorry for the blurry pics, my camara gets weird some times....
Ok, so I wasted a little time tonight looking for my Dremel charger but I managed to get some work done...
Here is a mock-up of the interior just to see tolerances and such:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4879
Here is the '64 Impala front frame clip I am using:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4880
Here is the frame clip secured in the partial frame-jig:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4881
More progress pics from the frame jig:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4882
And...sorry for the blurry pic but here is what I ended up with at the end of the night. This is just the skeleton of the frame, basically the main rails and supports. It will have alot more done to it tomorrow:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4883
and this is just a teaser shot with the rims:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4884

Till tomorrow......OUT!

Ok, I didnt have alot of time tonight to do what I wanted to do but what I did get done is still important....
Basically all I had time to do was narrow the rearend and add a disk brake kit(not pictured here):
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4887
Done:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4886
So now you can see how well the narrowed rearend came out and how well the frame fits in the body:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4885
Till next time........

Ok, so I decided that since Im doing a Texas-two-link (Lol) that I would concentrate on that tonight so here is the begining of it:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4892

Here are the link mounts for the frame and the 2 link bars fabbed:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4894

and here it is all mounted and fixed on with all the measurements right(the extra length on the pins in the link mounts will be trimmed after paint, they are kept a little longer for easy removal during other things):
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4895

O...did I mention the 2 link is functional...Lol:D Tonight I will be doing the bag mounts and other misc things....till next time

Ok, so I didnt get a ton of work done tonight but I had some fun with it: I decided to go with Shockwave suspension so I pretty much concentrated on getting that built today. I built everything from scratch and here is about half way through building one of the shockwaves:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4911

Here is pass.side Shockwave and all the mounts done and shown in laid out position:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4912

Yes...the Shockwave does come on and off the back mounts on the link and frame, PMB told me to put a quarter next to the frame to show how small everything is...SORRY for the blurry horrible pic:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4913

O, I almost forgot, I cut, narrowed and changed to offset on the front wheels to get a more hotrod look:
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=646&pictureid=4914

Next will be the drivers side Shockwave and the link bars and shocks....
Till next time...

Purpleminibeast
01-19-2010, 04:47 AM
For some reason it looks bigger in picture. Then you see the mounts for the link bars in person. And bam. Tiny. I was like. WTF mate. Its sick though.

01-19-2010, 02:37 PM
nice work on the linkage, I just wanna know how you made the shockwaves

tacochris
01-19-2010, 09:52 PM
Hey thanks for all the complements on the build, trust me, it keeps me pushin the envelope...
As far as the Shockwave fabrication...Its a little hard to explain because its mainly alot of sanding and shaping but the jist of it is this: The bag is 2 A/C O-rings glued on top of each other, the bases are flat plastic sanded to a circle, the rods are plastic rods cut to length and the mounting brackets are flat plastic drilled sanded and turned on end...

Karl90C1500
01-19-2010, 11:05 PM
thats cool, I was wondering on how you made the bag itself. very nice build

Hey thank guys...
wv87minitruckr, if you find a local hobby shop that deals in trains and train related items, most of them will have a section for plastic stock in different sizes and it is made by a company called Evergreen Scale Models...You may even be able to order it online.

tacochris
01-30-2010, 11:24 PM
Aight...So today and last night I started on getting some sort of interior built for this 2 seater beast. Because of the fact that I am super picky coupled with the fact that I just had to have 22's a 350 and vertical air bags, the whole interior had to be custom built....from scratch. I narrowed a 64 Impala dash to fit and shaved down some s10 buckets...There is a plexi viewing whole in the rear area and a custom driveline tunnel....Enjoy:D

Ok, so I am stopping for the night cause I have been working on this thing since 10am this morning and the wife is home...But I wanted to post a final pic for the day to keep you updated:
Here is what I have done since the last pics:
--narrowed the front bumper
--moved the bumper back and molded it to the fender lip for a cleaner look
--blazers dont have regular rear quarters so I cut the blazer quarter in half and molded and spliced in the rear quarter from a '99 Chevy bed.
--shaved tailights
--shaved handles
--shaved gas door
--shaved roof rack and third brake light
I will be ready for a roll pan Monday and after that its all paint and interior work and she is DONE! here is a final mock up before final paint and body work

Ok, my computer sucks so i am just now posting the pics I was gonna post last night...I didnt get alot done because I had surprise company, and thats ok...I am working on it a little bit tonight so here is what i did yesterday:
I did smooth inner fenders molded to the body in front of and behind the back wheels kinda like some of the Ekstensive and Chaotic trucks...and I started the rollpan...with the help of some small bar stock and alot of sanding, I was able to run the bodyline all the way around the back too! I also got the front turn signals shaved and the body line in the bumper. Check it...

Ok...sorry about the delay. Seems like some of you were about to blow a gasket...Lol
To make a long story short, I am super picky with things and paint is no exception, I sanded this freakin thing down 4 times and painted it four different colors before I found the one I like, one of them even being a 3 color job with graphics, HATED it all. So, I bit the bullet and I went with the final color and I like it....its 3 coats of candy maroon with silver micro flake and 4 coats of clear. I like it...
On a side note, the air intake was custom built out of the front half of an Integra unit and the back half of a blazer unit.

Thanks guys...I am happy to be done with it so I can have my evenings back for a while (until the next build of course..Lol) This has been a blast for sure!

Dragwindsor-I really didnt like the camber either but live and learn i guess right? I used a 64 impala front clip so i ended up using the stock control arms. I raised the top control arms and that helped alot but I probably should have built or shortened the lowers...Its not as bad as it looks in person, its the weird angle I took all the pics at.....On the next one the wheels will be straight up and down.....

Its kinda funny you should say that "layinframe".. I actually had one on it and I didnt like it. It sat a little too close to the shifter so I decided against it. I left alot of stuff off that I would have really liked to have built for it but since there is a time limit on the build I really needed to be mindful of that.
