ok, My hb has a z24 right, i can get a ca18DET from my mate' mate real cheap, like 600 including turbo, fmic, ecu, wiring etc, its good nick etc
will it be the same ordeal as hooking up an sr20,
mounts are right/almost right, ca tranny, shortened driveshaft, s13/200sx gauges, ca18 ecu, new zorst, +Fuel pump, etc?
(hey question, is the gear selector off a 5 sp man ca18 in the right spot for a HB?)

well ur probaly better off staying with SR20de because CA18DET arnt very reliable an the SR20 just really sits right in them an just splice the wire's in an a couple of other things but they r the better choice.
There was a thread back on NC about it an alot of blokes have done it im doing it myself when i move to QLD. i will see if i can flog it off NC for ya

problem is: i can get all those sr parts for like 2-3 grand, the ca18 was never run over 6psi and is 600 bucks, like australian 600 bucks, gearbox, engine, manifolds, turbo, wastegate, fmic, factory computer, aftermarket one etc,
plus, im still in skool on my red P's and probably couldnt get my car registered with a turbo sr20. (the ca18 was originally a non turbo engine, therefore the rta are going to accept the engine change notification without an engineering cert which would be required with an originally turboed car (which i cant drive, red p's))
Another aussie lol, im from syd

ca18det wil bolt in,theres nothing wrong with the ca's...not often done as of the whole drifter scene (well its like this here anyway) all crazy about sr's.
a friend of mine did the swap....heres his build-up http://forums.minitruckin.co.nz/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=196&st=0&sk=t&sd=a..lacks alot of info but it was done with relative ease.i imagine the ca swap is probably just about as hard as a sr in terms of wiring.
if u got any specific questions,pm me and ill pass it onto my mate and try get you some answers

Thank you a million!!!
i get access to the car im taking it all out of. im planing on using the box from it as well. when i pull i to bits im gunna label the wiring for like sensors, dash, ecu etc to make it like a hundred times easier to put back together again.
the engine bolts up no probs, what about the box? (5 speed man)
Also, what did he do about the gear selector being 6 inch backwards? or did he make new engine mounts 6 inch forwards?
also, thanks again, it gives me a definate go that it will work with a bit of composure.

gearbox bolts up mint, needs to be packed up by about 70mm to get a better angle on the driveline.
gearstick is back abit, but you will find there is actually a massive hole in the floor where gearstick pokes through..with a cover plate covering most of the hole so you simply cut that to suit..my mate said his one was on a colum change...
thats about all he had to say....hes not the most talkative.

packed up as in like raised a bit at the mounts so the driveshaft is at a better angle?

With brakes, the hb's have what? all drums? ( its dark and raining here and i really dnt want to sit in mud checking them)

yes, just make up a spacer to sit between the gearbox and the crossmember and use longer bolts.

drums in the rear, discs up front.

nope.not that im aware off.im pretty positive the rears are still drum aye.
where did you read that?
i do know tho, that you can swap over the v6 nav brakes up front, for slightly bigger/better brakes.
