I know about the motor I bought...:doh2:, It is 1984 LD20T-II w/50,000 miles on it and it came out of a nissan van in 2000, and yes it runs very well. I was wanting to know about parts and were i can buy them, and if anyone knows any help full hints on them.

yes, it is going in a hb, that is all iam saying. This is Robs(a.k.a bigrobho) new project. He and I did his blazer( one on my avatior), Even before we were done with the blazer we were talking about a new project. If anyone has seen how clean the blazer is, this will put it to shame.......

Change over the fuel lines and run cooking oil that has been converted with ethanol and lye, upgrade the turbo to one with ceramic fins, and run propane injection to it you will have a pretty quick lil diesel that costs only pennies to run and will be different than most minis on the road.

Wow!!! An LD!!! Crikey!!!
We bought in an HB Kingcab the other day that had been transplanted with one of those. Not exactly a powerhouse I can tell you. They were phased out & replaced with the CD20 (which are god-awful!!!)
The HB's down this way (and Japan) came factory fitted with the TD series (TD23, TD25 & TD27) which again are no grunt machines. Ideally if you wanted to go diesel I would recommend a TD27T for ease of transplant & a small power increase over the TD27. Otherwise the QD32 with a snail strapped to the side gives you 500cc more cubes plus is later model (1998 onwards) as they come out in the D22 series (Frontier) so still relatively easy to fit.
LD20TII : 79hp @ 4400rpm
TD27 : 85hp @ 4300rpm & 176Nm @ 2200rpm
TD27T : 100hp @ 4400rpm & 215Nm @ 2200rpm
QD32 : 110hp @ 3600rpm & 220Nm @ 2000rpm

Thanks, if u can come up with any power mods let me know, like turning up the injection pump, or if u can find out how much boost it can hold. That would be great.

^^ actually the 720 had a 2.0L and the gen1 maxima had a straight 6 diesel. plus the uhaul type commercial trucks have diesel straight 6s.
it's too bad our diesel laws suck so bad in the US that we dont get any small ones.
I had wanted to put a td27t in my hb but cost wise it was better and more practical to go gas v6 with more power.

i got a td27t in my HB,nothing nice or super cool.
running 15psi boost at the moment.motors done about 220,ooo kms and i get about 10l/ 100km,and i give it shit all day everyday haha.if i actually cared about fuel economy i could do wayyy better.
cant say ive even come across many ld20s but if you know what parts you are after i could have a look around, cant promise anything tho.

I know a guy who put a 4 cylinder diesel out of a LAys Potato chip truck/box van into a Chevy K-5 4x4 Blazer with a NV4500 manual trans. That thing would haul ass and get excellent gas mileage.

check your forklift supply or dealer. they will be able to get you all the parts you need. those engines are more common in the US than you think. Just not in motor vehicles. By the way I would not modify the turbo boost or try for many upgrades in power as you will likely will loose the engines longevity in a rather quick way. use it for what it was meant for good mileage and low end torque not speed. your top speed is gonna be like 70 or so. diesels are supposed to be driven hard. floor it on accell. and for top speed. I used to drive my 240d at 80 mph with the pedal to the floor all day long. they were designed to be driven that way.

hey if you decide to sell it keep me in mind.
also i would join a diesel forum. they will have all the info you need. also for your injection parts the Bosch diesel service center is the only place to go. they will test your injectors free. if there is not one in your area then find the closest one on the internet and do mail order.prety much anyone else is a waste of time in that area, especially the nissan dealer(clueless). bosch is the best at fixing your injection pump also. with 50k that thing is almost new. treat it right and you will get another 350k out of it. forget trying to enhance power. your better off getting a bigger engine. just get that one running at its best nothing more. if you want a fast truck sell the diesel engine to me, and get a gasser. older diesels are just not fast. now the new Audi diesel, thats fast.
