heres some shots of my 86 KK, it belonged to my grandfather and it was sitting in a field for 3 yrs before i got my hands on it.. it need some work, but overall is a very solid north carolina truck.
heres some pics of it when i picked it up last november in north carolina

i brought it home, put a new alternator on it, new P/s lines gave it a bath and started collecting parts. it sat for the better part of the summer, and i have recently found a new drive to work on it..
sunday me and my friends lowered it, it's now got 3 inch blocks, pulled middle leaf, and cranked torsion bars. got it back on it's 17" silverado wheels :thumb:

well, thats how it sits now.. plans next are new carb, new headgasket, tuneup and fuel cell. then go over it well enough to get it ready for spring.
future plans are bodydrop, bags, KA motor swap, sunroof? and it'll be a flat blue with some striping and shop-style graphics on the doors. gonna keep it the "retro look"
thanks for looking!!!

Old school 720's are nice. That one looks pretty good. Keep it going. One day you will be proud of it.
My 91 below started out as a rough truck. Now 3 years later and about $4000, its coming along nicely. Hell, I couldnt have paid on a new vehicle in one year of payments what I have in this truck. And get decent gas mileage.

thanks for the encouraging words guys!!
my grandpa is a TOTAL pack rat.. he used both trucks as work trucks for his plumbing business.. about 4 years ago my uncle, who's a painter in the greensboro area, took the diesel and basically restored it for him.
he's now diagnosed with alzheimers and doesn't drive any of them anymore
i'd like to have the deisel.. but i got the 720.. and i think my uncle will take ownership of the diesel someday..oh he also has a 520 that's stilling out back ROTTED to the ground
update.. engine's ALMOST back together.. carb is scheduled to be here monday
HOPEFULLY be firing it up next weekend.. still gotta mount the fuel tank/pump
raise the carrier bearing.. run new fuel lines.. fix the sloppy shifter. and get plates for it
don't have any seats.. so we'll see how that works???

the driveshaft moves up and down about 2 inches..
another 80 bux for a carrier bearing and it must be pressed on.. theres another 40...
broke as shit now.. and still trying to get it to dropt/destroyed in 2 weeks..

09-20-2009, 01:24 PM
well.. with some help from my dad and my friend Joe.. my truck drove yesterday
i honestly CANNOT believe this thing ran again.. i'm not the best mechanic in the world and this is only the 3rd engine i've torn down that far. and the 1st OHC engine i've ever really worked on. it started IMMEDIATELY and ran. i haven't even adjusted the timing, it seems to run great. theres some issues with the carburetor but i can figure that out.
i don't have any seats yet, so i tossed a spare rim in the truck, put a sweatshirt on it, and took it for a drive.....it rides like total shit, but it's so much fun. i haven't had a driveable mini for 2 years

well. i'm proud to say it made it all the way to dropt/destroyed in ohio this weekend..
it was about a 200 mile trip for us, and i had only very minor issues. i still need to work on tuning the carb. but it got us there. i did get some REAL seats in it, and the trip allowed me to make a mental list of what i need to do next. it drags on everything, which is cool.. and not cool at the same time.. i have some things to get done to it before i'd make another long roadtrip .. and i'm gonna sit down and make a list of what i need to do before spring
heres a pic of us @ the show..

spent wed/thursday gettign my raised carrier bearing crossmember made..
tried to get all the stuff that would inhibit me from laying out taken care of before i start the bag job
this actually turned otu to be alot more work than i had anticipated, but i am happy with the results
built from 2.5x2.5 square tubing, nothed for the carrier, well above the frame level
working on the lift made it all that much easier, i couldn't imagine doing this on jackstands
got about 10 hours into it start to finish

That turned out really nice. Did you make a cutout for the exhaust or is there still enough clearance for it?
Supermachine
11-07-2009, 05:35 PM
Should be enough clearance for it.. if not i'll notch it out when i get my exhaust made.
i ripped the exhaust off of it while i was in there, only have the down pipe..
made for a nice loud drive home!!!
beatnbruised
11-07-2009, 06:23 PM
Lol I know that feeling. When before i bought my truck someone had stolen the catalytic converter and cut the pipe right after the downpipe it was a 40 mile drive home....with no radio haha.
