Since I cant really afford to get my billet wheels at the time I decided to swap to 5 lug and just get some forged wheels. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different year Toyota rear ends? It will have to be narrowed almost 10". Is there any way to keep my stock speed sensor? Is everything pretty much the same on the frontiers and hb's as far as the front conversion? What kind of options do I have? I want to keep my nissan spindles. Thanks for any info you can give.

since your going to narrow it anyway just go with a ford 8.8, plenty of gear choices and the same bolt patern as the yota

I already have the frontier spindles on. Im just saying I want to keep them. As far as the rear end, I want to stick with the yota cause its cheap enough to get plus Im not going over 300 horses so its plenty strong. Toyotas also have one of the cleanest looking housings out there.

I'm not familiar with yota's but, don't they look like the ford 9 inch front loading 3rd member?

the only disadvantage i have is gas mileage...but on the other hand i have longer, more responsive gears with lower rpm's, a cleaner look, and a hell of a selection on wheels... and yea u should be able to keep your speedo... mines off by about 8 mph's cause the bigger wheels but you can always go to a speed shop and have them hook up to your odb connector and get it right.

Sounds like I have almost everything figured out now. The thing bout the speed sensor is that its in the rear end and I did not know if you could just plug up the yota sensor or swap over the frontier sensor. I found out the front is the same as the HBs. Just machine the spindle 1/4" down then everything bolts up. I know the yotas have a bunch of gear ratios to choose from, just have to figure out which one will work with my 31" tall tires.... Thanks for the info.

I swapped my 98 frontier over to 5. I got all my parts from a '92 yota. Had my spindles machined down 1/4". thats allows the threaded part of the shaft to extend out past the end of the hub and seat correctly on the spindle. Get yourself some new bearings and seals too...

What gear are you running in your axle? What was the original ratio in you truck? Did you have to do anything else to the axle to run it? I noticed some of the yota 3rd members have a sensor hole in them. I have the front stuff all figured out and all my parts are here or ordered. Now just need to figure out which axle to get.
