Navara help

Hey, first time poster at :IN:, i have a question that if anyone can answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

My Navara is an 87, it came with the z24 POS!

The engineer person im talking to says that the vg30 version of my car is different because of some support or some shit in the back end, whats different about it?

(reason being, I live in australia, and i want to sr20 my ute, you are allowed 15% over the power which the car came with (or best option ie vg30e) without needing to get engineered. Sr20 wont fit into that 15% if im going off that shitty z24 carb, so i am finding the major differences so i can see if i can get my car put 15% on top of the vg30.)

(i don't want to get it engineered because i am a P Plater andP Platers here cant drive engineered cars)

(By the way, whats the most powerful stock engine that the hardbody (d21) came with?)

hey man,

the back end in a vg30 may be LSD or a slightly different diff..from memory there were 3 different types used.....is tha what you mean or am i missing something?

a friend has a auto vg30 and is a 3.9:1 LSD Diff which is different to the td27t powered 4.1:1 single spinner i have.

the vg30e is said to produce 114kw + (15%) = 131kw (rounded) an sr20 is rated at 140 plus so i think you may just have to have it engineered or somehow find a way to bullshit it all....detune maybe??

most powerful stock HB motor would have to be the vg30 i guess?anyone want to bother looking up all the stock HB motors and compare ratings?

The HB i got had an engine transplant to a z24, its one of the older utes being an '87.

it definatly has an lsd in it, lights up both wheels every time, ill have to check the orignial engine number on it,

p plater = no turbo/supercharged engines, no engineering no mods (yeah right).

i still plan to turbo it, i just need to look for a non turbo engine that i can get it passed with, and put all the plastic covers over a low mount turbo (maybe no cooler? 3-4 psi?)

as far as i know i can bullshit what specific engine came with other hb's and because the later VG30E was rated at 165 i can get 165 + 15% = 190 hp (140KW)

so other than the diff, theres no structural difference in the rear end?

dono whats wrong with your z24 but mine will move pretty good all it has is a header and e-fans.

my z24 is the carb one, its only got about 45 thou odd kms since rebuild (thats 28 thousand miles), but i dont like it, clmbing third gear is like watching the sun rise, i think its cos i had an r31 before this car and i want the quick rpm climb that had.

and also i want to take it down to wsid (The drags :D:D)
im not going to run like a 20 sec pass n get laughed at by my mates lol

haha i get what your sayin but i look at it this way it gets good milage and spanks s-10s so thats good enough.haha and when i race i dont take tha HB anyway i just jump in the camaro.
