Got it a few months ago from buddy after he put 4 new balljoints in it.
This is how she was sitting.

http://i36.tinypic.com/10i5agx.jpg
http://i37.tinypic.com/1zdcjew.jpg

Then I slapped on some 2" blocks, pulled the middle leaf, torsioned the front a bit, and slapped on my pathys. I also painted the 'vents' on the b pillar.

http://i36.tinypic.com/21e7swk.jpg

...but then, I did this.

http://i33.tinypic.com/4lmzdg.jpg

...but, got this, which is waiting to be installed.

http://i34.tinypic.com/2nl7k1c.jpg

After not touching it for awhile, I decided the rear suspension was to soft so I swapped the 2" blocks for 4" angled blocks and put the middle leak back in.

http://i37.tinypic.com/paopc.jpg

Then we come to today, finally got the front dealt with. More torsion, less bumpstops.

That's all for now, time for some food.

Haven't updated this in quite awhile. Windshield is installed and my buckets are in, but not completely. Also have a new waterpump.(see thread in engine tech, help me get it stickied!)

With the new waterpump, aluminum core radiator and the most kickass 10" electric fan, this thing has no worries with overheating.

Sorry for no updates fellas.
I went and took some pics yesterday, here's one of them. I'm kinda saddened by how photogenic my truck isn't.

http://i45.tinypic.com/nosdxv.jpg

To update this thread: The dash has since been painted matte black and reinstalled. I also finished cleaning the front bumper, it had algae on it! It was a faded green.

I'm looking getting a few things for it from christmas, I'd love to have matching side mirrors, and a corner light thats not busted, maybe even some shocks.

On a side note: anyone know where to find a factory rollpan for a 720? Mine is rusted to hell and I so badly want to get rid of that huge steel bumper.

Oh man, I want doors so badly... The fenders are fine minus the driver side which has a tad bit of cancer near the bottom right side of the fenver well.

You know, I was looking on grant kustoms earlier today and I only saw one for a hardbody.

Well, here's some pics of a hole in my bed. This is my attempt to fix this huge dent.

http://i48.tinypic.com/262qnfr.jpg
Here's said dent...

http://i49.tinypic.com/e88me0.jpg
My weapon of choice...

http://i48.tinypic.com/309sodg.jpg
The aftermath...

http://i46.tinypic.com/34ozzic.jpg
Well, here's the bad news. The whole corner of the bed is covered in bondo, as well as the corner of the cab. This pic is after I ran down some of the bondo cracks with the grinder. This really bums me out, but there's worse yet to come...

http://i46.tinypic.com/1412o8p.jpg
Here's what I found when i peeked around to the front side of the bed. If you can't tell, that's some bondo'd sheetmetal.

http://i47.tinypic.com/19tqg8.jpg
Here's a better picture of it. You can see where they cut the sheetmetal to try to match the contours of the bed. Which they didn't do to good of a job on.

http://i49.tinypic.com/xda6uu.jpg
Great! Even more sheetmetal on the back of the cab this time, this is horrible.

http://i50.tinypic.com/30t46m8.jpg
Here's how the metal on the bed was initially held on. I'm assuming they riveted it on, then slathered bondo on to glue it on.

http://i47.tinypic.com/b8pmk5.jpg
Well, anyway, here's what I came out with. Sanded down the bondo and got it fairly smooth. It is better then what it was. It's got some paint on it, so now my truck is black and blue.

I'll eventually get another bed to rock, this one is a gonner.

Ratrod25
12-15-2009, 12:18 AM
you can tell there is shit ton of bondo, the body line is missing on the bed and cab

93d21joe
12-15-2009, 01:37 AM
Yeap, it's a shame. I don't even wanna do anything chassis related now that I will get a new bed/cab.

Lil update, pulled the wheel bearings out, and greased them up. They probably haven't been out since 85 so I'm sure it helped. The passenger side did have slight play, but nothing helped the severe pulling to the right.

The trucks looking really good.

What else is in store besides the new engine?

93d21joe
07-16-2010, 05:55 PM
Ehh, it's coming along, slowly.
Floors obviously need to be finished.
I'd like to get a hood and a new front air dam, mine's all beat up.

Minus the floors, I don't care about the body to much, the cab and bed are to rusted for me. Overtime I plan on grabbing another cab.

I decided to swap the trans after the new motor is in, I might just wait for the original one to just grenade itself, we'll see.

Update on motor:

Well, I've since found my pulling issue, right caliper locks up a bit when it warms up.
Gonna buy a couple reman'd ones in a few days.

I was debating painting my vc or not, but realised it would be way cooler to have my buddy paint it for me. He goes to the local art academy and is into god of war and
stuff, so he'll come up with something for me.

If anyone has some new leaf spring bushings laying around, please let me know, I need to replace mine. For those of you wanting some more pics/progress on the motor, some may come tomorrow.

I've also got something planned for the busted up hood to try and help disquise how busted up it really is, it's not to original, but i want to do it, lol.

It sure did, don't worry, they will be.
Damn that sucks... Time to stroke the motor
Naw man, ive thought about that, but the ka has a rod-to-stroke ratio of 1.73:1, which optimum is 1.75:1 for the least piston side loading. So maybe i'll punch it over and throw some 'diff' pistons in it. =)

Btw: New purchase...

08-06-2010, 04:09 AM

09-01-2010, 03:59 AM
Meh, I'll probably keep it, lol.
When my gf goes on vacation in oct. I think I'm going to get the frontier trans swapped into it. Should cost me less then $150 to do it. Trans was free, to shorten and balance it is 90, and ill say 60 for misc. parts for the trans.

93d21joe
09-02-2010, 06:05 AM
Rotated the rear tires and found out the diff fluid was low so I added some, also unstuck my ebrake.

I also test fit my new 16x7s with 195/50/16s and i dont like the tire size, so i mounted a 205/55/16 by hand but didnt test fit it on the truck, maybe tomorrow morning. I think I will have some slight clearance issues in the rear but a slight fender pull will fix that. 195/55/16 might end up being my final size.

Turns out 205/55/16 is just a 'bit' to bulky. Gonna try a 205/50/16, but I have a feeling I will end up with a 195/55/16.

Seems like noone cares about this, but I may update it with progress anyway.

I will be.

Should be ordering the oversized pistons for the ka within the next few days. Once those get here I'll be dropping the motor off at the machine shop for a bore and a final hone.

09-15-2010, 06:31 AM
Anyone know anything about this? This is the only picture I can find of it, wanted to know if it was put together.

I'm not to sure what's going on at the moment. My dad just got a new vehicle so if he allows me to throw my insurance on his blazer, I'll drive that and get to work on the 720 sooner. I'll also probably rebuild the whole thing and go sohc pistons.

http://i54.tinypic.com/4vhkxs.jpg

Intake is back together with all new gaskets and the cylinder head is on the new motor. Should have it together tomorrow night with the engine mounts made.

Mounts have been done for a few days and I've picked up my 255lph fuel pump.
Gonna try to get the engine assembled 90% tonight. That last 10% is the oilsquirters I'm waiting on from the dealer, which should be in tomorrow morning.

The 240sx harness has been wired in minus a switched power to the 3 relays.

Anyone even interested anymore?

Went to the dealer today for oil squirters and they hadn't come in yet, I was told 2-4 business days by 2 people, today is the 4th day, and that they would be in today in the morning. Guy at the counter today tells me, oh its 3-5 business days.
So I'm bummed about that...

Yesterday I just got the z24 off of the stand and put the ka on it.
Before work Im gonna put two of the 16s on and maybe bolt the bed up or tool around with the motor a bit.

Turned her over today with the key so that made me smile. =)

Motor is in and all put together. Need some valve cover bolts from a 240 seeing as the frontier ones wont fit the 240 head/valve cover. Gotta plumb in the fuel filter/pump, which is simple and plug in the harness and fire away.
Making exhaust which will be a bitch.
I'm using a S14 240 exhaust manifold which is a 4-1 design rather then the 4-2-1 design of the S13 chassis. It's a little bit easier to fit near the torsion bar area but will still be a bitch.

Couple notes:
Don't install the oil pump on the front cover before putting the front cover on, it blocks a bolt for the front cover.
If running a 240 HEAD make sure to order a 240 Head gasket set and a FRONTIER "conversion" gasket set, basically the lower end gaskets.
Don't forget the oil slinger or the little round orings (?) for the front cover.
Exhaust is a bitch if you still have torsion

Some-what soon but future to-do list: go coils up front.

93d21joe
11-06-2010, 01:44 AM
Just thought about updating this...

Uhm, ka is running, took her for two quick drives. Second one,I couldn't help myself, I decided to let her eat, ignition timing was off, but she roasted the tires through second.:woot::nana2:

Got some wiring to clean up and then I'll be taking her to my buddies shop to have the intake tubing chopped and made to fit the 720 engine bay. He'll also be making the "downpipe" off of the S14 manifold and the exhaust. I'll be running 2.5" header back, plan is to get an ebay S14 header in near future.

nis720
11-06-2010, 02:18 AM
I feel your pain on the exhaust.... 720's have less room than HB because of the torsion bars. Even back when I had a Z24 the installation and removal of the headers was a pain.

Where's the pics?

Well, exhaust is done and I couldn't be happie with how it came out.

The other night I took her out to a local meet and on the way home the trans decided to call it quits, so last night I threw another 5-spd in.

I should be going up there shortly to pick her up, just gotta throw a plug in the tire and head home.

Holy long time no post.
Well the truck was traded to a buddy of mine.
I couldnt pass the deal, I got a car id have always wanted.
91 4dr accord, h22a swap, omnipower coilovers and greddy sp2 exhaust.

He has since pulled the motor, other then that he used two tires of the 16s for his 240.
It blew up because of a paper towel...

Upsets me to this day, I have no clue how a paper towel ended up in the oil pan.

Anyway, hes considering selling it back to me, he wants cash for a cage for the 240.
$200 and shes coming back to me, well see what happens...
