Awaiting parts and metal, but she is underway :nana2:

I will throw up pics as things get completed. On 18" titans right now, but I think its gonna be set up to tuck 22's laying deep into the rocker, maybe doored.

I know I know, TTIWWOP

To hold you guys over, here is my boys s10 on 22's with bd in progress. Took about 3 1/4" and moved the cab back 3/4" to clear the double d's. Full plate at my boys shop. Two bd, two full bag jobs, and my back half before West Coast Nationals.

Your not gonna fit 22's on a doored hardbody. Im just about to the doors on 225/40/18 tires (25" tall) and they just about touch the hood and the bed rails.

Ya I know if I did it would def put them out of the hood and bedside. Odds are I will be rockin the titans for awhile, maybe go with some 20's. I am going to olive drab everything and put old war plane seats/instruments setup as gauges in it so big wheels may not really flow all to well anyway. Thanks for the info though.

xmb63
08-25-2009, 11:50 AM
I just figured I let ya know. My original plan was to run 20's until I got the body drop done and my tires almost touched the hood. I drive my truck as much as possible and the roads around here are horrible. I could have gotten away with a 225/30/20 but my rims would have gotten destroyed.

Thanks man!

For you guys rockin' bd hardbodys, how much do you recommend? I am thinking of taking it into the door but I will probably daily drive it over the winters here in AZ, then park it all summer (no ac). I am not tall (5'7") so headroom should be fine, but back home my buddy dave had a doored hardbody and to push the clutch in you would have to actually put your foot behind the firewall.

dont door it completely. leave a little bit of rovker and plate that. IMO once you get into the door shit gets sloppy quick and then the door gets messed rather quickly with no rocker to protect it. i would leave about 3/8-1/2 of rocker

ScottXGTR
08-31-2009, 08:46 PM
2.75" is to the rockers. which looks good imo.

you gotta be a certain breed of person to go to the doors. you lose a lot of room, and you gotta worry about fuckin up door skins. but if you want to be the lowest of the low, doors is where its at.

v8eaterWRX
09-01-2009, 01:00 AM
There is always someone lower so I am not worried about that really. My big deal is I like the full front bumper to lay, and to just pinch/rocker doesnt lay the full bumper from what I have seen. What am I looking at to lay the bumper, or will I lay it with the Toyota bumper I currently have on?

jimmy726
09-01-2009, 01:14 AM
shit with your yota bumper it should lay with just a 2.75" bd

Just going to the rockers it is more drivable. My truck has 225/40/18 tires they almost touch the hood layed out and you need to be aired almost all the way up to turn. You can cruise low on highways but all city driving your constantly hitting switches to make turns. As for the bumper laying mine is almost on the ground with the hardbody bumper.
Not to whore just trying to help you decide.

Is it jus me or are ur link bars not laying parallel horizonally, looks like the uppers are pointin down and lowers pointin upward or flat, jus thought that could cause some binding issues, but I could be wrong

v8eaterWRX

No binding, but the pic is a little deceiving. They are not all horizontally parallel but the way it is setup we are not having any issues. Also, if you see on the one end of my link bars I have heim joints :D

Have two 3 gallon tanks tied in on each side of the rear of the frame now and the back section of the frame is also part of the tank. Will post up some pics later. All the brake lines are rain for the rear with hard lines and stainless onto the four link bars. She is comin around :)

It is, and I have addressed this. Will it cause any issues, I guess that remains to be seen. If it does it will be a simple fix to move the top bar mounts so I am not worried much. It has a long ride out to Parker, AZ for West Coast Nationals this weekend. If it gives me any problems I should know right away and we can tear into it when we get home.

v8eaterWRX
12-12-2009, 02:51 AM
Picture a line following the four link bars indefinitely. Instant center is the point where the two would cross. It is generally to the front of the vehicle, in most setups you will have some issues if it is not.

http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/suspension/0606mt_rear_suspension_mini_trucks/index.html

That link sums it up fairly well. If you dont understand that one though do a search on google as I am pretty sure that minitruckin did an article on it at some point.

wow, how this slid by me... i didnt notice this post....

that picture is very deceiving! i ASSURE you the bars are mounted correctly and the truck is still on the road after 5 years or so . all my pics are taken from the top , so i have no side views.if you notice the axle is drop way way down , i cant remember why its been years.
the instant center was put up close to the front crossmembers a ways...
so the top bars do point down slightly towards the front...
heres a 1999 nissan i did at the same time.. if you notice the bars setup its just about the same as the s10

Nah not yet. I was putting off a lot of things on my car that needed done (maintaining it is not always easy) and needed to get it out early. I am dd'ing it now while my coilovers get rebuilt and I catch up on some routine maintenance I was putting off. It is either going to go under the knife again or I am going to sell it and get something crew cab for the extra space to haul my daughter around. I have had no issues with the setup despite the instant center being to the back. I have, however, had some pinion angle issues at full lift (surprise surprise). Does not bother me though as it is fine throughout ride height and laid out dragging.

Ya its about to come down. I am sick of emails like this:

"Ya uhhm scene your sale add on craigs list for the nissan. do you have a bed for hauling? I need a truck for work. thank"

and the typical "Ill give you $200, an old turkey sandwich, and my sister for a weekend for your truck"

I do not have any pics from the suicide door install in this truck. I have some from the install in my old s10 but I would have to find them. Are you looking to suicide yours?
