well, alot of you already know that the truck i purchased was originally travis's truck (cgnkustoms00). i take NO credit for the bagging or the body drop. he did shave and relocate the tailgate handle. http://i789.photobucket.com/albums/yy179/bggednbodied/truck%20buildup/LaidOUt.jpg

ive had the truck for about a month now and i was looking to sell it, but couldnt find anybody that would go through so i decided to keep it and have a run at fixing her up. right now im in the process of shaving the gas lid door, monstrous 3 brake light. and i plan on doing the doors here in about 2-3 weeks. im also going to redo alot of the bed and move some things around like the tank, compressors. just to make it look cleaner. i guess ill start posting up pictures, but be easy on me :D my first mini and im trying to learn all i can now.

this was my first try at shaving something. i think the pictures are kinda blurry so i might have to take some new ones. i just used the factory gas lid and hammered the edges out to make it flush with the bed of the truck. i should be getting it welded up in a week or two. let me know what you think. i could always use constructive critiscism

Make shure when you weld it in you spot weld and move away from the weld you just did to give them time to cool or it will warp....

so just spot weld the corners first? then weld it up?

you gotta jump around with your spot welds like when you tighten lug nuts. take you time so you dont add too much heat to the metal. too much heat leads to warped bed sides. so do the 4 corners, then split the difference on all them. and again. and again. take a break. repeat until your done.

same goes for grinding down the welds. a little here. a little there. break time. continue.

tack 4 welds. drink a beer. tack 4 welds. drink a beer, call friends over. tack 4 welds. drink a beer, call friends back to see about picking up more beer. tack 4 welds. drink a beer. tack 4 welds. call friends to find out where the hell they are with more beer, find out their around the block. leave the truck alone till tomorrow, finish drinking with friends..

you should be done soon enough if you do the doors at the same time.. or drunk which ever comes first..
