ok so its just about time for the grand am to go away. And i'm really thinkin about gettin an xterra. I want somethin a little bigger, more power, and pretty. I don't wanna make it a huge project (yet) ;)
So basically i wanna know the pros and cons of them, from the people who know best. What can ya tell me?

gas mileage will be the biggest con. expect less than 20mpg.
other than that, they are roomy. the v6 has plenty of power. not a whole lot out there for parts unless you want to lift it.
only issues ive read about the VQ40 is a few fuel related issues with the pump and sending unit(usually warrantied), and some timing chain rattles later in life.

Moms was complaining about her acura every time i called home, so i got the clue.
I bought this from a freind for 4g's this week, its moms now. my way of showing my appreciation for her putting up with my shit for 17 years.

Would i get better gas mileage out of a pathy then? And still stay fairly comparable in interior space?

pathy and xterra are pretty similar as far as hardware goes. mileage and space are the same. pathy's have more options and will be in a higher price range.

We bought an Xterra new back in 2000 and my wife loves it...fwiw.
We've only had to go basic maintenence and it currently has 130k miles.

Pathy is longer in the cargo area. Enough for a 6 footer to fall asleep after :hump2:
