4 ports, 1 for each corner, to control each corner independatley
1 port for my compressor
1 port for my pressure switch
1 port for the tank drain

the extra port could be used to add another compressor

oh and yes of course if you want 3/8" valves you gotta have 3/8" line

I have 3/8" valves and 1/2" line on my truck. I now use 3/8" line on everything, but it can actually be done. Just need the right fitting.

I generally run a 5 gallon tank, and I always try to use 8 or 9 ports.

(4)1 for each corner.
(1-2) for compressor, sometimes I put two compressors on one side and T into the tank, otherwise one on each side and use two ports
(1) on the bottom for a drain petcock.
(1) T'd schraeder valve and air chuck. Never know when you will need someone to air you up, or vice verse. This is actually a requirement for every vehicle in our club. I carry a cheap coiled air hose behind the seat with a tire chuck.

If you still have a port, you can run a gauge, or some air accessory. I've used extra ports to run another valve for air horns.

Exact same here. I heard the compressor fill times are faster though if you have each of them going to their own port on opposite sides. The schraeder valve and air chuck idea I've been meaning to do for a while. Just incase whatever, airing up tires, etc... I went to help my friend change a flat one time and we pulled down his spare and it was flat just because it lost psi over time. Would have been nice to just hook up to my truck and air up instead of driving 10 miles round trip to gas station. Do you have pics of this? What size port are you running these to?

I just use a 1/2" T with 1/4" reducers in each end, and put a schraeder on one side and the air chuck on the other.

I now carry an impact gun and air ratchet when we go on long trips (300 plus miles) and its come in handy a few times being able to run air tools.
