I will start by saying I had this started at the old you know who site. Thought I would resurrect it again for my own satisfaction and your viewing pleasure.

Pretty much the same as when I bought it. Grille upgrade with chrome corners. Front bumper from my 89. It was in better shape than the one that came on the truck.

Had to fill a hole with a Pathy grille and Clarion tweeter. Sometime between 87-91 Nissan changed the location of the seat belt on the B-Pillar.

Looks good, did you do the stitching on the console?

Looks good, did you do the stitching on the console?
Nope.
Paid an upholstery shop in Conroe to do it. Cost me $49. That was cheaper than the dealer for a new lid of $70. The gray doesnt match the old brown/gray but what the hell. I have a old pair of buckets with the right color. I thought about cutting off the back of seat and having him redo it, eventually. I know where another console is the same color as this one. Might pick it up and have the lid done in the right color. Then sell the extra set up.

I will be ordering more soon, veeeerryy soooon!
I just got me another complete dash that is out of a 90 Pathy. Same Pathy I got the doors from. First I bought the dash pad for $50, then went back and got the rest of the dash the other day. It has that little extra cover below the radio. Nice place to put the alarm brain or a small amp or both. This time when I pull it, I will find that damn front window leak. Gotta replace the windhield soon anyways. I found one leak already. The previous owner pulled the rubber plug that the hood latch release goes through and put in stereo power cable. I rerouted it to another local, Now no leak. Hopefully soon will be able to put the carpet in.

Which dash do you have in your HB?
Old style or newer style?
I just sold one here, V-6 manual with tach for the older style dash for $100.
Dont see the newer style that often in a V-6

07-10-2009, 02:25 AM
Not much to report other than an ass load of new parts waiting to go on the truck. Havent had much time to do anything. Finally got some extra cash flowing in with all you guys buying the quality used parts I have been pedaling here at the site. Thanks again by the way.
Here is some of what I got.
A new speaker box with some old school 10" Rockford Phosgate Audiophile speakers.
New one piece 97 bumper, with billet inserts for it and the grille.
Rear bumber used in nice shape off of Craigslist, and some clear signals.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-080S.jpg

Another complete dash I picked up at a salvage yard with an almost perfect dash pad(even after cleaning it really well). Got it out of the same Pathy I got the all power doors last year. Also a CAI from a local guy Chris. By those is a host of misc. parts, some from VG30E.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-081S.jpg

More misc. trim and parts.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-082S.jpg

Here are my 5 spoke chrome Titans(only showing one) with new chrome center caps, Gorilla locking lugs, and all new pieces that attach the lugs too. My brain is melting from the damn heat. I cant think of what the hell they are called.

As soon as the ass clown from Craigslist shows to get these new Nittos that are too small to my liking. I will put the rims and bigger tires on the truck.
Hopefully tomorrow, as he put it.

Albert,
Not a problem. If you change your mind, LMK. I have a guy in Austin who wants it. So he says.
This isnt even all the stuff. Only the items I could find right off hand. The flashy shiny items. I got a steering gear box with new/used lines that are not leaking, a tilt column out of "The Beast", and God knows what other shit I got. Oh and stereo equipment out the ass.

Yesterday I got my truck fitted for my new tires. Ordered some Nankang NS-II 245/45/18. They are gonna look bad ass.
I also picked up all the AC parts I needed to fix my air. Condensor, dryer, expansion valve, o-ring kit, and shrader valves. Picked up a new brake caliper, left front is hanging up at times, and some new ceramic pads to keep my new rims cleaner. Now I just gotta find time to put it all on.

Not going to happen. I got my new tires today. They wont tuck with a bag job.
I got Nankang NS-II Ultra Sport 245/45/18's. All mounted and balanced with Road Haz certs for $429. Thats with an extra $25 discount coupon from Sundays paper. They look fucking great. Now I have to get my new studs on the truck to mount my new wheels. They are gonna look NIIIICCCCEEEE!!!!

Alright finished the AC work today. Had to re-install the Evaporator box under the dash.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-039S-1.jpg

I did the condenser and dryer a few weeks ago. Dont they look purty?
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-042S-2.jpg

I ordered some new taillights of of Ebay. I got the Altezza Carbon Fiber. I like the way they look. The red lenses inside are clear instead of non translucent like the ones I had on my Chevy a few years ago.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-040S-2.jpg

I got the CAI I bought from Chris, not sure of his last name, put on today. It seems to have a little more throttle response. On the high end, I notice the acceleration is better going above 55mph and down shifting to speed up. If that makes any sense. Cant wait to get my new header put on.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/MVC-043S-1.jpg

Tomorrow, I will installing new bumper for the rear, new wheel studs, my new 5 spoke chrome rims and tires with locking lugs all the way around, one new brake caliper, fresh rotors, Ceramic brake pads, and hopefully the new one piece front bumper, and if all goes smooth the new dash I got some time back.

I used a 2 pound mini sledge to knock them out. Or you can use any hammer.
To re-insert them, I used a air powered impact with a washer, over sized nut and an old lug nut.
I am so glad I have my air tools and compressor set up. Doing this by hand with a ratchet sucks ass.

I put on my new AC belt and adjuster pulley last night. I got my AC charged up today. Evacuated and freon was $76. Now I gotta replace the compressor soon. The damn thing is growling. But at least I rode home in comfort for a change. All this rain we have had lately. Makes it difficult to drive when we have the humidity we have here in Houston during and after a rain. Windows like to fog up. So far no leaks, that I can see. I already gotta line a a good used compressor for $60 local.

What a slow poke with the AC running. I dont remember my '89 with AC on being such a turd.

The AC compressor didnt last the weekend. The compressor lost its ability to pump the freon. I picked up a used compressor yesterday, put it on last night. Had the system recharged again today and works real nice. The compressor is real quiet now. Luckily the shop I used pulled out the freon(they use a recycler machine) and filled it back up without charging me a dime.

Ya when i bought my cai. It was from fbi when they first came out and they did the tech article in minitruckin. That was actually the instructions they sent was a photocopied page of the article. Back then i paid 350$ for it. After tryign it against jsut an open air box with a k&n i was dissapointed that the k&n made better power. Lol

Work on the new grille with inserts being cut to make room for the billet. Didnt know I was going to have to cut some of the billet bars to make it fit in the new grille. I got a polishing attachment for the Dremel to clean up any imperfections.

I finally got my new front bumper together. Here are some pics. Yes I put turn signals behind the billet. I got new lights with the almost clear lenses.
After I mounted the lights, I realized the brackets had to go where my lights were. So I modded them and cut out a rectangle piece to make it work. I can still service the lights when I need to.

He doesnt have either. I know where to get a grille and bumper aftermarket.
grille, $37 plus tax
Bumper, $92 plus tax

I just got an estimate to do a paint job. So a bag job is out of the ?????
About $2000 to change colors from the red it is now to silver. A two tone paint job is another $1000. I was thinking Plum Crazy Purple(old Mopar color) on top and silver or the newer Cool Vanilla from Dodge on the bottom.

Did you have to come up with your own clips to make the turns work behind them??????
As you can see in the second pic, I cut some of the bracket on the billet insert. I shaved down some of the excess plastic on the back on the light fixture. I also bent up the middle tab on the bumper so the light could slide into place and used a piece of flexible flat strap to attach it to the bumper tab. Again look at the second pic. Pretty much self explanatory.

Recently I got my new used steering wheel and billet adapter kit.
It is a carbon fiber Grant GT I got used off of Ebay. I ordered the adapter from Summit Racing. I also ordered a new horn button that came with a carbon fiber NISMO sticker to put on the horn button. I plant to strip the black paint off the ring around the horn button and get some stainless allen head bolts to finish it off. The wheel is smaller than I anticipated but I like it.

dam dude all those nissan parts you sell and your dash is missing half its shit????? But the steering wheel looks cool, i should have got a billet adapter for my grant.
I have all the parts to put together 2 complete dashes. Just dont see the point of putting it all in when I am replacing this one with another one that is better. I dont like doing work on a vehicle 2 times. Once is enough. The dash I was gonna put in got fucked up. It fell off the resting place I had it stored. Now the search is on to find another dash pad. It all else fails I will order a new one from VG30E. To the tune of $280. The pad in my truck now is warped and the defogger vents wont lay in place right. But my vents are kick ass new.
The steering wheel is not as good of shape as the seller stated. I figure if I dont like it, I will sell it back on ebay and get what I paid for it. I have my eye on a couple of others I like through Summit Racing. Gray Pleather or vynal, all can be found on ebay for good deals.

I finally got me a new bed today. Also got a tailgate all for $162.00. This thing is almost perfectly straight. I went with my son to get a KC window and the guys tells me he is about to crush some cars to make room for more coming in. I couldnt pass this one up. I got the gas filler neck and the taillight harness as a bonus. More extra parts to sell I say. My son got a pair of chrome Pathy mirrors, the KC window and a center console for $108.

Dude your lucky lol. Couldn't tell you how many unwrecked 2-door Pathys we get and they won't sell whole cars here. I think they are smog failures from Cali or something. Fustrating to see them wasted.

Sorry about that Jimmy. I completely forgot to answer your question.
I used a hack saw blade without the handle to hold it. Then used a Dremel to smooth it all out. Because the grille was aftermarket, the billet inserts didnt quite fit so I had to trim some of the bars so it would fit. Then I used the buffing attachments to polish the bars right back up.

ok so you just hand cut the mf thats a good idea dude. About how long did it take you to cut the middle pieces out with a hack saw blade? And im hoping mine fits but will see mine is a oem grille so i may get lucky dude. So far the billet piece will sit in the spot but they are close

Dont remember. I cut one section one evening, then another at another time. Probably about an hour total.

Hey man i tried the hack saw blade in the hand, and it worked out great David. It actually probably took me longer to tape the grille then it did to cut thru the center piece.THANKS MAN

I probably should have done this because I slipped a couple times and got a couple scratches on the chrome.

After a long stretch of down time, I got inspired to get going again on my damn truck. After seeing Alberts/slammed95 truck today, I got to get my shit together.
Last weekend I got some 4x4 fenders. Not that I needed them but thought they would look decent on the truck. The front tires, I believe because of the front end being wrecked is tweeked so one tire pokes out farther than the other. I thought the new fenders would make it less noticeable.
I recently ordered about $500 worth of new interior panels because my old ones were so scratched.
Today I got one door hung. These are full power doors. and I got door handles again. My son grabbed my chrome handles that were in better shape and put them on his truck. Also will love having keyed door locks back again. I will be putting and alarm that I have on it and it has the optional hook up for the door locks. Probably could have kept the door poppers and hooked it up through the alarm, but decided against it.
I figured since I was replacing the fenders, I might as well change the doors. Its easier this way.
After I removed the cowel panel, I realized where the water that was getting in the cab on the passenger floor was coming from. The drain areas behind the fender was so clogged, it took me about 15 minutes with a water hose to flush it all out.
Enjoy the pics.
After finally getting it as close as I could. The door opens and closes so nicely.

AHHHH! I finally get to put my one piece bumper on. It will be nice to see the new billet and recessed turn signals. At this time I will be putting on dual Pathfinder horns. Previous owner put on the typical American car horn and it sucks ass for loundness.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00291.jpg

The fender just sitting in place. Not lined up as of yet.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00292.jpg
I gotta tweek some of the mounting tabs. The previous fender was an aftermarket one.
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/david29/DSC00293.jpg

One more.

I have AC again!!!!!!!
To the nay sayers who said when the AC clutch starts slippin' I need a new compressor? I say bullshit. I got a nissan NOS one from an ebay supplier for $62 shipped. Put it on tonight and she runs so quiet and oh so cold now.
Now my gas mileage is gonna suck some ass. But damn it I will be cool.
HAd to rent 2 different pullers from 2 different Autozones stores and get some metric bolts from a local bolt supply house. I practiced on a loose one I had in the shop first to make sure I didnt fuck up the good on the truck. HAd it all done in about 2 hours. Thanks to air power tools. and working my new concrete driveway.

I replaced all but the compressor. I got another used compressor and the clutch started screaming. I got the new Nissan part clutch coil kit from ebay for cheap. Now she purrs.
Next time I have to do this I will get a new or reman. compressor.

Make sure your belt is not too tight. It needs about 3/8" to 1/2" slack.
The chirp you are hearing is probably the clutch engaging. It starts out with a little chirp then gets gradually worse.

Well,
Some jackass decided that my truck was a good way to fuck up his rental car. The asshole cut me off in traffic and I almost hit the curb. After this, he is driving erratically passing people while its raining buckets. He is so close to people they are braking on him to get him to back off. Farther down the road the guy decided to stop right in front of me and I almost had enough time to stop. Couldnt go around him, too much traffic. I steered towards the ditch and hit the brakes. Of course I almost got stopped. We pull up in a parking lot and I get out cause I am HOT!!!. He gets out after I asked what the hell he was thinking stopping in the middle of the road. He says I was blinding him with my lights. He was in a rental with dark tinted glass. Then he asks me if I want to settle like real men. I say sure lets let the insurance sort it out. SO he called the police. Now my truck wont start. I had to push start it before cops showed so I didnt have to have it towed. Here is my fucked up shit.

damn david that sucks bad. you gonna be able to straighten the chassis out where its crumpled?
Its been wrecked on this side before. I think with a big fucking hammer and a come along, I just might be able to get it enough to make it work. If I had the new bumper on, it might have not been as bad. But then the new (Nissan) one piece bumper and the new billet would have gotten fucked up. Sure glad I didnt have the fenders on yet.
AC condenser survived without a scratch. Now I got something wrong with electrical. It wont start on its own. I had to push start it to get it home.
I will check the obvious things. One fuse was popped. Replaced it at the scene. Still no start.

After the rain finally stopped, I was able to get out and take a better look at my shit. I fixed the problem with the no starting issue. The neutral safety switch bracket was bent in such a way it wasnt contacting the pedal.

Sucks bro. I almost totaled my frontier yesterday in that shit too. Some asshole thought it was a good idea to turn infront of me when i went to lunch. It was the first time i had to lock up my truck since ive owned it. And bad thing is that i already need to do my brakes. So it was close. I barely stopped before i hit an altima. It was inches.

Sucks to see yours hurt. But i know you and i know itll get fixed.

That rain was nuts yesterday. My truck was up to the frame at one point during the day parked outside work. It was only like 6-7" by the time i got off work.

i damn near did the same thing not an hour after replying. i had my wife and daughter in the pontiac. we were on the service road cause traffic was backed up from a wreck and a semi decided to exit off without a blinker or anything. i almost got to taste his gas tank but luckily i just replaced the brakes, turned the rotors, and put brand new tires on a couple weeks ago. sorry for the thread jack david but im really hoping you get everything fixed.

This will be my last post concerning this truck. I will continue to drive the truck but nothing will get done to further it along*. I am now focusing on the 93 I recently purchased. Work on it begins this weekend.

*Unless the insurance company finds fault of the fucker who caused my trucks demise. Which I wont know anything until another 4-5 days.

Finally got word back from the insurance co. yesterday. Of course it was considered my fault but because the other guy cant be found for a statement, my insurance co. offered the car rental co. half the damages to the rental. They denied the offer and it went to arbitration. Well I got word that they considered fault 50/50 between us. That turned out better but I still dont get shit for the trouble.

Of course, thats because I am still driving the damn thing. Outdated tags and inspection now. Just forgot to renew the tags when I got back from Ft. Worth. Now I have to goto the court house to renew the damn thing.
I need to call my insurance and ask them when I am getting a check for half of the damages the other guy got blamed for. They should go after his personal ins. co.

After this weekend, this truck is officially retired.

I got my '93 KC back from my son so I can stop looking over my shoulder all the time looking for cops. I have been driving for almost a year with outdated inspection. The Cat blew out months ago, and the EGR valve needs replaced. The carrier bearing is shot to hell. Front suspension is junk. She just rolled over 268,000 last week.
This truck has been a good mode of transportation for over 5 years now. She has served her purpose. Time to strip her down, sell some parts, and move on to the 87 to get built.
