hey guys im looking for an amp to power my kicker L7 10" with dule 4ohm vc.

the lowest i can run the sub is 2 ohms, correct?

and if i get an amp that is 1000watts @1 ohm how many watts will that be at 2 ohms?

i should also add im looking more for sq rather than spl.

thanks, Jarrett

yes, the sub will run at either 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

most amps with a 1 ohm rating should also have a 2 ohm rating, and a 4 ohm rating. without knowing what amp it is i cant tell you. kicker and memphis make a few amps that have a lowest rating at 2 ohm.

also, finding an amp geared towards SQ to power a L7 is counterproductive.

i thought l7s were supoesed to be sq

they are no where near the top of my list when i think sq. they are more of a ground pounder type sub. made to get loud, and not be too offensive to the ears. however, with the right install, anything can sound good.

well there are a lot of amps it more on the budget side

look for an amps that have a RMS from 600-800
Kicker can take more then stated
i had mine 12" L5 at 800 and it still hasnt blow on me or even sound weaker

Well you can get the
ZX750.1 750RMS in 1 Channel at 2ohms
OR
Alpine PDX1.600 600RMS in 1 Channel at 4 or 2ohms

there are more options

i would have to agree with scotty on this one. the kicker l5s and l7s are more of a pounder than a quality. and yes anything can be made to sound good if set up properly. the above mentioned amps are good but there is alot to take into account when deciding. are you wanting to go ported or sealed? you should also think about what mids and highs you are going to run and an amp for them. budget is going to be the biggest contributing factor in any set up you decide to go with. most companies also offer some five channel amps that are good for sq.

im going with a sealed box (i need the tight bass or the bass drum kicks), and id love a 5 channel because i wanna amp my mids and highs, but havent found any for a decent price.

5 channels are hard to find with a sub channel with more that 300 watts. the memphis belle being the best exception.

what is your budget? i can suggest some amps that meet my approval.

i personally would jsut about never use a 5 channel amp. i like amps dedicated for what they are needed for, lol

well, 5 channel amps are dedicated to what they're needed for nowadays, this isn't 1990 anymore. Most 5 channels nowadays are either:

A: a combination of Class D and A/B amps in the same chassis or board. Both Memphis Belle amps are examples of that. They use Class D for the subwoofer and A/B for the 4 channel side, so in essence, there's no difference in running a Belle and running the MCD1000 and the 50x4, it's just one case, and a perfect match.

B: expensive Class A/B 6 channels with the 5th and 6th bridgeable. Amps like the Zapco Reference fit into this class. They're made for one reason, to give you the best sound in a small, easy to install package.

+1 Belle is pretty B.A. I'd do a 500 watt mono block and when you can go to a 50x4 for the mids and highs. Polk/Momo is great for its cost and I ran 2 ohms mono on a 500.1 for years w/o a hiccup! A Polk/Momo 500.1 is about $350 FYI.

well just a word of advise al i have is kicker...im runnin 2 12" cvx dual 2ohm subs on a kicker zx1000.1

all kicker mono amps are stable at 2ohm...so dont not run one at 1 ohm or 4 ohm you will blow the sub or fry the amp
