the latest mod ive done is to "roll" the bedsides. Basically the body line that starts in the door will now go all the way around the truck. I shaped all the pieces by hand by using a template & a dolly..what a pain :evil: HaHa It took 2 weeks but now they're done & in primer.....

Ok time to redo the rear suspension soon & i'll need some input. What i have now is a 2 link & im not getting enough axle articulation / putting alot of stress on the arms. My plan is to go with another 2 link & add a wishbone. I want to leave the gas tank where it is & raise it up a bit hence the wishbone. I also need to raise the front bar tabs up slightly too. Bag location may still be behind the axle w/ new mounts made, not a big fan of big holes in the bed [if i go over the axle]. The lower bars will be DOM square & my ? is what thickness should i go with??

Ok HUGE day!! All the bed bolts are off..gas tank dropped & half of the old suspension is off. While i was under there i noticed my carrier bearing rubber surround went out :bang:

Ok ive decided to ditch the 2 link & go with a new design. One that will allow the axle to articulate more. Options are limiless but the $$$ is'nt. Im leaning towards a 3 link w/ wishbone so i can leave the gas tank where it is. I started tearing it down the other day & heres where i stand.......
I removed / trimmed & re-welded the stock front leaf mount farther back on the frame..well above the bottom of the frame..

check out that garage:eek: I ran the wishbone and kept the tank in the staock location. Its mounted pretty much the same as you are doing with the bars.

Indeed my garage is packed. Looks like it is because of the rear end being torn down. Ok picked up some metal & axle tabs & got busy again today. Cut & welded front crossmember in place...

Now i can get back to the bag & lever setup. My design..the bag will go between the chain & upright bars & inflate outwards, the chain will "rock" outwards as well pushing down on the axle creating lift. Still gotta make the bars but you guys get the idea...

Hey mark, with the way this is being setup won't only one side lift up since only one bag is being used and it goes to the left side or am I missing something? I am really interested in this 620 your building and this is the only thing I can't figure out, plus when are you movin on to the tilt bed? lol

TY guys. I did do a test the other night to see how & if it would provide lift. 1st atempt did lift it a bit but the bag was inflating unevenly. I then made a pivot where the bag attaches to the chain & still got uneven bag inflation. Not giving up yet on this setup quite yet i just have to make a few changes & try again.

your angle from the bag isnt level. maybe make the shaft 1/2" - 1" longer so the mounting plate to the bag is 90*. it looks like its at an 85* angle in the pic. just a thought.

Ok did a few more tests & turns out im not gettin enough lift w/ the chain. I decided to go with a more simple design that'll get me on the road for the summer. Ill be bustin on the truck ALL day tomorrow & ill take pix. Gonna be therapy for me workin on it again :dathumb:

Today was proudctive indeed! Got the old bars cut off, the lower mounts removed from the old metal & cleaned up, then got both the upper & lower mounts welded in. Im going real basic & damm it's much easier this way :rolleyes:...

Got her back on the ground today, shocks painted, spikes smoothed & painted & the rest of the frame done in gloss black. Good question. After i welded in the panels i seam sealed the area around the louvers & then painted over that. Im toying around with mounting a light behind them too if i can make it look clean.

Ok the 620 is still sitting but this week i cleared out the stuff in the bed & cleaned the garage so i can get the head fixed & moved outside. My next mod will start soon i promise...it involves removing some glass ;)
