reweld it, or go to your closest truck stop and get their fuel tank repair putty

Let me guess its an RCD fuel cell? It happened to both of mine. I just redid the welds on the entire thing and mounted the cell on to rubber feet to prevent dampen the vibrations.

so how would you get all the gas/fumes out to reweld it?

mounting is the biggest problems with fuel cells... even motorcycle tanks.. due to the vibrations.. it will cause cracking... best bet is to us rubber shims/mounts to keep vibrations down....

if you can weld it... goto a harley motorcycle shop and get some gas tank sealer.... you put it in the tank and etc... and it will seal the tank inside...

I probably have the worst mounted fuel cell ever right now (not bragging or proud of it lol) but in a week or two I'm going to have it redone and will definitely use your idea ice about the rubber mounts

My RCI cell had a few pinhole leaks also. I washed it out really good with water and had a friend weld it .

If they are just pinhole leaks then you could try some POR-15 fuel tank sealer. It's pricey but it works. http://www.por15.com/prodinfo.asp?grp=TS&dept=12

im pretty sure they might be pin hole leaks, cause it only drips gas

when you do get the time,WELD IT! just keep wasking the tank out untill you cant smell any gas.then your good to go.but for now any type of fuel tank sealer or repair should do the trick.Does it have foam in it or not?

damn this thread is old....funny thing though my summit cell did the exact same thing TWICE!!!, the first time the rear panel cracked accross the top weld and then a few days later the bottom weld cracked and i lost about 12 gallons of fuel in my works parking lot, and now the second time it is crqacked accross the top and three of the four mounting legs are also broken, from vibration i guess, but it does have rubber bushings on it, i dunno, all i know is i was charged 80 bux to have it repaired the first time, and now im just buy a new one from summit or jegs for 160 bux, cuz theres no tellin how much they will charge me to fix it now, and summit wont warranty it cuz its been modified to accept my stock fuel pump and sending unit.....which im thinkin that just possibly the vibration from the fual pupm might be whats causing it to crack and not from the truck and compressors so much...

If the tank was welded properly, then it should have cracked at the welds. Sounds like a POS tank if you ask me.
