Yes it can be capped and removed. But my check engine light didn't come on. But I also removed the bulb for it so it wouldn't come on. Problem solved!

If you remove bulb, then you wont know when other components go out. Such as MAF, air temp sensor, etc.
is that the stock placement
Some time in the mid 90's, they moved that stuff from under the hood to the back.

also if you have to get an emissions test you'd be SOL even if ya take the bulb out

I live in Hawaii and there is no emissions testing.
And I will know if any of my parts were going bad without the light. But if the light is on all the time how are you to know if something has gone bad?

I know this is old news but if I am going to a fuel cell will the light still come on is there anyway we can put a resistor inline to fake it being there? There isnt any room in my frame for this thing but i cannot pass emissions with a check engine light on...

There is usually a breather port on a fuel cell... just run a line right to the sensor that runs to your stock tank!

Sorry to bring up a old thread but i have a 04 fronty that has all the stock emission shit under it but it has a fuel cell with stock fuul pump ect. the only thing defferent is shape of tank. When i live in FL the light came onn way later down the road from putting the cell in. No biggy it ran good so didnt worry about it but now i live in AZ and have been here for a year and its been in shops for a year and have replaced damn near everything except the charcoal canister. Well i took it to nissan they couldnt figure it out in an hour and sayed it would be $110 for the hour they already spent on it but they needed 1-2 more hours just to diagnostic it more. So whatever told them to keep it. $330 later they said its fixed ok cool well i drove it the 65 miles give or take to reset the computer and i only made it 17 miles and the fuckin light comes on. So i took it back to nissan and left it there got a call today and they said there teck was on the phone with some other dumb ass and there telling me that its my tank and im missing hoses that should be on a stock tank and some kind of shit inside the tank. They think im a dumbass i know all the shit is there they just cant figure it out and are giving up on it. So now i have to go monday and try to fight them and try to get my $330 back for paying them to do nothing. Now i know i have way over the limit in how much you can spend before i can get it wavored so hopefully they will pass it. And i can trade this bitch in or something.
Any idea? lol

Throw up some pics or the set up, vacuum lines and stuff. Maybe someone can pick out what you might be missing.
Man dont trade the truck in b/c of a check engine light.

There are other sensors mounted in the stock tank. There is a fuel temp sensor thats at the bottom of the stock tank, along with a brunch of other shit on the inside top of the tank, all of which with throw check engine light If not dectected by the ecm. There is so much evap shit on the frontiers it's not even funny. Got 2 options
1 - Find a hook-up and buy your inspection
2 - Put the stock tank back on

Yeah with the money i have spent on it im way over the limit and nissan cant figure it out they will exempt it for a year and then i will have a year to get rid of it. The truck is super clean its just me and my girl have been through hell and back with this thing.
