So I was headed to work yesterday morning, and my 94 let me down...after 13 years and nearly 200,000 miles she finally broke down for the first time. I'm pretty sure it's the fuel pump, but I was wanting to get some more opinions.
I don't hear it prime when I turn on the key. The fuses and fusable links are all tested and good. I jumpered the contacts together on the relay socket under the hood...nothing....and I do have 12v @ the harness that plugs into the tank.
Any more ideas?
Also, does anyone have the pinout and color code for the (I think) 5 wires going into the tank...just so I know what I have and what I should have on those wires.
What can I expect to pay for a new fuel pump?

has anyone figured out a pump that fits the hanger without changing out the whole fuel sender unit?

on a 96 itshows to check resistance between terminals 5 and 6, with the lock tab up 6 is bottom left and 5 is bottom middle. should have 0.2 - 0.5 ohms @ 77*F if NG replace pump.

dvdswan...do you have the full pinout and color code for that harness? I was thinking about putting 12v on that sucker and see if it kicks on.

Got home @ 9:45 last night, dropped the the tank (only 1/4 full...yay!) pulled the fuel pump assembly and found that the screen had cracked and rotted and fallen down into the tank...the motor seized from sucking a chunk of that broken screen guard up into it. I got the piece out with a bit of tapping with a hammer and the motor turns now, but it won't build pressure.
A friend of mine had a 94 that he bought wrecked for a parts truck and he pulled the pump for me yesterday and dropped it off at the house So I could test with it.
After working 14 hour shifts for the past 9 days straight I was to the point where I couldn't function anymore and had to go get some sleep. My dad said he would swing by today and put the fuel pump on for me and swap out my fuel filter. If that fixes it he said he'll go buy a new one and throw it on there for my birthday present (May 20th bitches!).

The parts truck fuel pump assembly got her cranked and running great again. Pop went and picked up a new one, a fuel filter, and even changed my oil, swapped my air filter, rotated my tires, and did a tune up (rotor button, plugs, wires) Grand total it took him 2 hrs and 325 bucks to do all the work...the old man still works pretty fast, and she is now back where she belongs, rolling low with me at the controls.
Now I have to go restock my beer fridge in the garage....the man works fast and cheap, but he'll wear out your beer supply while he's wrenching...like father like son.

Just the actual pump can be bought for about $100 +-. I put on an AC Delco a few years ago on my 89. Only cost $75 plus the sock screen.$4
Also its much easier to remove the bed than to drop the tank. At least that is the way I do it.
