ok so i need to change the inner and outer seals on my axle for the left side but dont know how to get the shaft out to put new seals in does anybody know if i have to remove diff cover and take pin out in order to get the shaft loose.

your help is greatly appreciated.:nana2:

just unbolt the axle from the brake housing and pull real hard!!
or not hard depending on the axle.

SO I DONT HAVE TO REMOVE THE DIFF COVER :)
just undo the 4 bolts on the back of brake housing then pull and voila the shaft should come out?

yes but removing the bearing and housing is a whole different story

Past that it is very simple to just remove the axle shaft from the case. The bearings and seals.........................if you do not have the special tool to remove them and install them take them to some one who does.

special tool you mean the one that is needed for the cover in the center to be turned?

the big tube thingy you use to bust the bearing housing loose from the axle shaft to replace the bearing and seal.

shit and i gotta do all this just to get my wheel to quit getting diff fluid all over it :(

if all you are replacing is the seal (not recommended since it leaks and you already have it apart) then no just pull the axle and replace the seal. I would go ahead and do the bearing just because how often are you going to pull your axle out?
