View Full Version : Installing component crossovers and amp?
Ok guys I'm finally getting ready to put my stereo in my truck (scotty im finally using those Infinity 12's and MB quart amp I bought from you so long ago :thumb: )
Now I purchased a set of matching 6.5" Infinity kappa perfect with crossovers and tweeters to go with the subs...now my stupid ass has lost the wiring diagram...so the crossover wiring looks straight forward it has 6 terminals for (IN +/-) (W +/-) and (T +/-) and I'm assuming W is the 6.5 and T is tweeter.
So with my amp I want to make sure I wire everything in right...so RCA's from my deck to the amp > speaker wire from amp to crossovers IN > crossovers to each respective speaker. And I just leave the speaker wires coming out of the deck taped off?
Sound right?
Thanks Guys!

yes the 6.5 are the W+/-(woofer)
and yes the rca to the amp, than speaker wires from the amp to xover, that speaker wire to the respective speakers.
as for the speaker hook up comming off the deck, just snip the ends, so the copper wires dont touch, and if it makes you feel better you can tape the ends off

yup yup. everything sounds on the level
Ok got everything in and it works awesome! Wow Scott that is the hardest hitting bass I have ever had...I know its nothing like yours but wow! They hit so clean and hard and the gain is at like the 9oclock position (since it starts at 7 being zero and 5 being max if that makes any sense...) Its turned right down is what I'm getting at lol...but my dvd player doesnt have a sub control so gonna see if I can hook one in anyway cause I need it lol

i really miss those amps. they are rock solid. depending on what insert you have in the subs, you could go up to 12 oclock if you so desire. sounds like you have enough tho ;)

going off what tier said...speaker wire from amp to crossover. speaker wire from xover to tweeter, and speaker wire from xover to the 6.5...
did i get that right?

Correct. Amp output to crossover input. Woofer output to woofer. Tweeter output to tweeter. The crossover splits the signal for you.

im not at home and able to check them right now, but is it labeled on the crossovers what output goes where?
and on a side note, scotty have you heard the boston pro 6.5 components? thats the ones i got to match my boston subs...i'm pretty excited to hear them for the first time

i havent personally listened to a set, but ive heard many good things about them.
and yes, the crossover should be clearly labeled. it should be covered in the owners manual as well if you need more detailed info. some of the nicer crossovers will have +/-3db adjustments for the tweeter which may be operated by a switch, or be a separate terminal all together.
