you need to use a test light to find which wires perform wich function a hayes manual will also help to find which wires you need i think different years would have different colors, i would use a test light to make sure.

The trailer light should have a diagram to show what wire is what, on the nissan step on the brake then find what wires make the test light light up wire em to the trailer lights like the diagram shows. Once you figure out one side the other should be the same
ya i had to jsut use a test light and a friend to hit brakes and turn on lights when i wireed up the trailor lights on my datsun

they didnt have a diagram and i did that i mean they work but when u use the turn signal or step on the brake it barley gets brighter like you gotta be real close to the light to barley even see the light get a tiny bit bright thats when the lights are on like at night, when the lights aint on you can see it work fine

maybe they are wired with the high side of the bulb as runnig light, so when you step on the brake the low side kicks on, did that on my trailer. try switching it out and see what happens let us know.

what are the other colors? black is usually ground, red is tail, green is left and white is right on a u-haul harness IIRC.

Trailer wiring is different than most of our trucks. On trailers, most use a common wire to power both running lights, and combine brake and turn to a single fillament on the bulb. On a h/b you have seperate bulbs for turn (yellow) and brake (red).
You will need a conversion box. Usually available at a local auto parts store for 10-15 bucks. This will have the correct diodes to combine the outputs of the brake and turn to the same fillament on each side, without back feading the other circuits.
The trailer lights would normaly be self grounding and use (brown wire) for running light, and the (green) wire goes to the right side trailer light, and the (yellow) goes to the left trailer light.

Make sure you have a good clean connection after mounting the lights. The mounting bolt on the light acts as a ground.

just go and buy a trailor wire harness and plug it in and then wire them up. thats what i did and now i can easily hook up the stock tails in the future if need be
