Those are the stabilizer bars, they keep your control arm from flexing, they cannot be removed unless you plan on trianglulate your control arms.

i dont see any pic or anything, but i think your talking about the radius rods.the are about 2-3 ft long and meet at the front under the rad slightly angled in.
the purpose for them is to hold your suspension in place so that the castor is correct.if you remove them your lower arms will be able to flex forwards and backwards throwing your wheel alignment out.
if you dont know what caster is.its the relationship between the top ball joint pivot point and the lower balljoint pivot point.depending which pivot point is infront of the other ,you have either positive (degrees) castor or negative (degrees) castor.not sure on the exact specs but you need a certain amount of castor for the truck to handle correctly....
if you wish to remove them you would have to triangluate your lower arms
removing them will not lower truck at all
in simple terms...you know what a castor wheel is right? and you know how they rotate so when they are pushed the always drag behind the pivot point,no matter what direction you psuh it.well removing the radius rods would be like trying to force that castor wheel against what it naturally wants to do (turn around and drag behind) and so if you were to do this the castor wheel fights back and tries to turn itself around.
put this 'force' in relation to your truck and you get a truck that would steer/handle VERY badly.
hope you understand....
peace.

DO NOT remove the radius rods unless you are going to turn your lower control arm into a swing arm!

They are called tension rods. And no you do not want to remove them unless you change the front suspension to the other set up like stated above.

the one coming from the front is the tension rod. the one going to the rear is the torsion bar

draginazz, id recommend finding a set to bolt back in and then triangulating your arm. i cant imagine a good way to measure them and relate it back to you.

alright i guess i'll rig something up to make it work i already z'ed the front and cut everything off like i said it was dumb as hell of me...but it took suicide doors a month and a half mabey longer to get me my bushing for me to make my arms triangulated...stupid rookie mistake i should have thought it through

fuckin scotty just whips out a diagram all willy nilly, thats funny.
This thread is also amusing to me because when I first got into minis and I heard about "loosening the torsion bars" I looked under my truck and these were the first things I started to "loosen" if you will. I was like 14 at the time and I didnt know any better but my dads mechanic was watching and letting me do this cause I told him I knew what I was doing and idk. Its just funny. He stopped me and showed me wtf was going on...
sorry bout that, gin and juice heh, CARRY ON

lol...at least you asked before just cutting them off. I don't know exactly what would happen If you cut them off and then one day you take a sharp corner going 30 mph.....but I know it wouldn't be a good end result.
