Reduced Voltage Requirements
Durable Under Heat
Faster Starting
Quicker Acceleration
Better Fuel Economy

I just stick with good name brand stuff, unless you want to use dealer parts (very high quality, last forever )

Plugs: NGK
Wire, cap, and rotor: Borg warner, Standard Igntion, neither let me down and I use these brands on a daily basis; ie manage a repair facility.

You're not going to get "a little bit more performance" out of plugs and wires. If yours are fucked up it'll run better with new parts, but all these ridiculous plugs with 2 or 3 or 5 ground straps don't do anything for performance.

The guy who says "I put bosch triple platinum +4 plugs on my 88 caprice and it gave me at least 20hp!" subconsciously believes that they did something, but nobody will show you honest dyno numbers for a spark plug that show any improvements.

Anyway though, I stick with NGK because they're quality plugs and wires and came OEM for my truck. I replaced them when I bought it 3 years ago.

^^^ from people i know who changed plugs and wires before they said they gained a little performance. and i put this thread on nissancustoms and a lot of people got more performance from changing. and its maintanence to change spark plugs every 80,000 miles im at 86000 right now. just came back and my total for ngk g power platinum was $13.95. ill get my cap&rotoe and wires prolly next week and install them all one time.

NGK Iridium IX. Platinum plugs are shit. Bosch is shit. I'm running NGK Wires too, and I won't say they added 20hp but it definitely accelerated better at first...one of my wires was cracked though... I ordered my wires online from eBay, but I got a KA24DE so i just got a set for a 240sx....

I need to change out my cap and rotor now...LOL..

If you plan on keeping your truck for a long time, I would recommend going with Borg Warner for cap/rotor/wires, they have a lifetime warranty when you buy them from O'reilly auto parts.

So when it's time to change them again it'll be free. One more thing when you lose your receipt for them just remember the phone number you purchased them under, and you'll be good to go.

X3 on NGK, since the factory put them in our trucks originally they probably knew what they were doing. NGK and Borg Warner ATW!!

I will price you the factory replacements in the morning. I have found that they work and last better than any thing you can find aftermarket with the obivious exception of NGK since that is nissan's factory plug.

so how is you can tell if you need the mitsubishi or hitachi cap?
the guy at advanced brought up the pic of both and they looked pretty identical.

The mitisu cap has the three diamond emblem and the hitachi has the h in a circle and says hitachi on it.

as far as the horror stories on ebay, if you use paypal, your shit gets refunded if you don't get your stuff... the only issue i've ever had, ever, was i had to track down a phone number to get these chinese dudes to send me the rest of a fog light kit i ordered.... and, of course, once i get the parts i realize it's the wrong kit. so if anybody needs a fog light kit for a sentra or a maxima, call me. everything is there except the switch...

i don't know exactly what year 240 to look for, i've got a frontier w/a ka24de motor, and the wires are the same... i think i paid like 60 or 70 bucks for the NGK wires... its been a while...

I tried those e3 spark plugs and im actually pretty impressed. I noticed more power taking off didn't really make too much of a difference on gas mileage tho.

I use AC Delcos in my 91. In my 89, I used NGK.

i took my cap off today and couldn't see anything like that.
It did seem to have a sticky spot of old adhesive where a label might have been.
Is what you're talking about stamped into the plastic of the cap or on a decal?

hey 87 you should have the hitachi cap if i'm not mistaken. and I always use oem parts, such as borg-warner, ngk, ac delco, and motorcraft.

geez Ryan forgot my name? lol

Mr.Ryan
03-14-2009, 04:53 PM
not really as far as I know "Neil" see I remember lol. they seem to be almost identical. mine has the hitachi cap and your truck is an older one like mine I think they used the mitsu on the 89

actually i have a 93.
the 87 i had like 5-6 years ago, i just kept my name the same

hitachi is the more popular cap. The difference is the rotor from hitchai will not work on the mitisu and vise versa.
