High Idle

For the past couple of weeks my truck has a high idle but I do not know why. It seems to run fine just a high idle. The check engine light came on and the zone said it was the egr valve, it that what could be causing this?

how high? mine would jump a little bit at red lights, it'd go from 1k to anywhere from 1500 to right under 2k... i dunno what changed it, i'm throwing a code 420(cat/o2)... umm i've changed alternators since then, and my a/c compressor took a dump on me, so i just cut the belt off and threw it in a tree.

it gets damn hot in a black truck.

I couldn't tell you exactly since it doesn't have a tac. But it's noticebly higher.

oh wow... i love my tach lol... 5 speed or auto? i know there's a few gauge clusters floating around you could probably get.

mine did tht b4 i replaced my o2 sensor, my cel would come on, but go off b4 i could get it scanned.

if you havnt replaced it, its prob a good idea at least for preventive maintnce

mine does the same thing. but i dont have a cat or 02 sensor on mine
