you had to have a spacer for the calipers or the hubs and was that a yota rotor or a hb rotor i want to 300 brakes on my hb i had them on my 240 i just want to know what the spacer is for

tuf720
03-08-2009, 05:40 AM
i used a toyota hub and toyota disk of the van as they are bigger to. the spacer was for the calliper to centralise it on the disk

whitetshirtguy
03-10-2009, 01:34 AM
do you have a pic of the spacer and what van the disk came off of i think i understand the spacer is it like the spacer about everyone uses to the the caliper back where it goes with the yota hubs

tuf720
03-10-2009, 05:06 PM
were your calaper bolts to your spindle i put the spacers there under the calaper to space it out so the calaper is central to the disk not off to one side and weriging the pads funney the spacer just looks like a big fat washer hope that helps ill do my best to get a pic soon heres a pic of the disks part number been brembro they may beable to find them as i dont no if you giys get this modle it was a toyota super custom

I could be wrong but it looks like your "A" link for your lower arm has the inner pivot to far out. It should me in line with the LCA bushing.

The rear set up looks solid. Thats the 1st watts link I have seen where the center link is mounted to the frame and the ends are mounted to axle. I always have seen and done it the other way. Pretty cool to see a different way of thinking

the front is all factory as such all in the same place not quite sure what your talking about the a link. iv done the watts link this way so it all becomes sprung weight not unsprung weight so its better to control

hey tuf720 what rear size collapsed length qa1 are you using is it the 8 5/8" collapsed double adjust or single, I'm trying to do roughly the same thing without heavily/or at all modifying the bed. I'm thinking about using a shorter afco double adjustable since they make them in shorter sizes for the rear

Saw further back how you kept your ride height set for the front a arms with the welded in piece of scrap metal.
Question: How are you setting up or planning for the compression of the coil spring when installed..want to do this to my sons truck for a drag set-up, but would like to get some advice first. Also what spring, length of coil over would you recommend?
Truck weighed in at LF 757lbs., RF 743, LR 475, RR 518 total 2490lbs.(dry weight)..w/driver total 2713lbs. w/out fuel in cell. this is a Turbo'd 4 banger combo.
Sorry for getting off subject of your build!

1st thing i did was decided what ride height I wanted. Over here in new zealand we have a minimum of 30mm droop which is when you jack your truck up it takes 30mm of movement before your wheels lift off the ground which is cool if you have less travel you will have bad bump steer. so talked to a guy that told me what lbs springs i need for my weight so tacted the steel in at the required ride height and then made a mock up of the mounts then put back on the ground to test the height and droop so i got more droop but thats ok i can go harder springs as the spring rate is a guess in most cases iv got 550lbs springs in the front and 175 in the rear i didn't corner weight the truck yet for drag racing you want soft as in the rear to transfer the weight and the pinion angle makes the difference also

I must say nice work, great project. I wanted a VG30DET(T) but with me wanting to lay body, it just wouldn't fit and look good at the same time.

I have to ask is there a reason to run your oil overflow/catch can/breather (brain fart and can't think of what its really called, maybe I got lucky) to the passanger side, I will probably have to do something similar in my build but plan on using the space on the drivers side if I can.

Love to see this finished one day and cleaning house. I figure drag, drift, or show it well do fairly well.

Well my comment earlier probably didn't make since, because your drivers side is my passanger side.

For clarification:
I just see the hose running from the right side valve cover, in the pic, behind the intake to the left side fender where the oil reservor/breather is located. In this case I think I might have put it on the right side fender so that hose is shorter, performance wise I don't think that makes a difference but honestly don't know. I will also say that I don't know what other hoses you are going to run and where else they might go so thats why I asked. It might be easier where you put it once I see the final product, but looks like the long way in my mind.

I need to do more research for this entire oil reservor, breather, and cranckcase ventalation so I know what I should do to get the most life and performance out of my motor. Figured since your building it you might have some advice or point me in the right direction.
