just picked up this truck today
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/chugger2k/booger.jpg
northcarolina truck, very clean, despite being parked in the mud. its 2wd, 4cyl, 5spd and its an 87.
plans for right now are to clean it up and getting it running good. first order will be to ditch the toolbox, bugflector, and the side steps, and fix a small fuel leak and do a tune up.
ill put up more pics this weekend when i get it home and start working on it.

so i bought it monday, dragged it to my friends thursday, and went through it on friday. fixed a fuel leak, checked over the brakes and engine and all that, pulled off the side steps, bug deflector, and bed box. got rid of a lot of garbage that was in the bed and under the seat.
then i drove it an hour and a half away to go ride my 4 wheeler, and then an hour and a half back with no issue.
next up is v6 2 piston brake up grade for the front, and tune up and fluid flush.
looks like a good lil project

havent taken any pics lately, but i added a s13 240sx steering wheel, visors, rearview mirror, a cd player and some speakers, and i got a new ignition cylinder and key set so im going to install them at work this week hopefully.
also fixed a problem with it not having reverse. not really sure what fixed it, i took out the reverse lock out lever and cleaned it, and flushed the fluid out and now i have reverse again.
it did a great job hauling my 4 wheel to another day of awesome, but very cold riding on my friends farm.

been daily driving the shit out of this thing. installed a cd player.
last week i did a tune up, spent about a hundred bucks. then today i got bored and ripped out the z24 and swapped in a 240sx ka24e. anybody need z24 parts? brand new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, t-stat, and some other stuff.
good pics for reference, s13 240sx trans and truck trans together

Sounds like the motors running rough, unless its just the sound on what your recording with. What are your plans for the truck?

yeah i didnt have the brake booster hooked up, the z24 vac line wasnt long enough and i couldnt find any in the shop.
it runs a little rough at first, but as it warms up, its great. i expected that though after removing a lot of factory crap and not having the ecu setup for it.
all in all, it was a bit of a pain in the ass, since there isnt really any good info on the swap, but driving it, i now feel it was well worth it.
turbo is next.
maybe some blocks and crank down the torsion bars, but im also feeling the sleeper daily driver route.

A good static drop for now would be nice, how do the motors compare? If I was not such sbc junkie I would build my z24 up for shits and giggles.

for me, it was a rusty fuel line. bad design in my opinion. all the fuel lines are tight together, and twist and turn. it makes a trap for dirt, and in turn that dirt holds in moisture and rots out the lines.
how hard is this swap and what is that motor out of??
swap was id say a 5 out of 10, if you are handy with a wrench, torch, and welder. the engine is out of a 89-90 240sx.
Turbo that single slammer for more enjoyment :D
thats the plan. first i want to drive it for a few weeks to make sure everything is good, and i also have to redo the brakes and throw some good shocks in it first. no use having more power if the truck cant turn or stop.
whats the difference other than size on those trannys
um, i think the gearing is different, but i really dont know. also the truck has a mechanical speedo, and its on the left side. car is electric and on the right side. i didnt bother to check if the speed sensors swap.
a quick review of what i used:
89-90 240sx engine
240 engine mount brackets
truck rubber mounts
240 flywheel, clutch and starter
truck trans
i used the truck lower harness, it plugged right into the starter, alternator, and oil pressure switch. i also lenghtened the guage temp sensor wire to reach the sensor on the 240 intake so the stock truck temp gauge will work.
240 upper harness, tapped into the truck chassis harness at the relay box under the hood, and 1 wire in the cab.
another problem i had, on the truck, the starter bolts pass through the starter, and threads into the bellhousing.
on the car, its opposite, the bolts pass through the bellhousing, and thread into the starter.
since i used the 240 starter, i took a drill bit and cleaned the threads out of the bellhousing, so the bolts pass through, and thread into the starter like stock on the car.
i used the car exhaust manifold, and downpipe. the downpipe had to be beat and bent and heated with the torch to clear the torsion bar. the firewall had to be dented to clear a little bit where the manifold and downpipe meet.
the oil pan clears the drag link with about 1/2 inch clearence. i dont have a sway bar. the engine is slanted back a bit, but i dont really care, it still clears the hood.
egr had to be deleted, the pipe was hitting the firewall. i also eliminated the solenoids on the back of the head, and just ran a vacuum line to the fpr. i capped off the rest, since i deleted all the smog shit.
any question, pls ask and ill do my best to answer.
i will add in the color of the wires i tapped in, and put up some pics when i get a chance. :nana2:

we got a smart guy here!!!
finally someone who is going to make something fast but is taking care of the turning and stopping issues first. i hate when you see people with semi-built or built cars and they have done nothing to control the power that they are making. not safe IMO.
nicely done sir and good luck with the build.:thumb:
:D:D POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL!!! :D:D
