Hello, I have a friend with a 95 hardbody that has switches on it and the frame is about 4 inches from laying. well he wants me to redo the suspension to lay frame from front to back. I'm familiar with s-10's and mazda's but never have messed with a hb.. i've searched here and ssm and couldn't find everything i needed..

Rear=
its getting a 4 link in rear so ill be cutting the spring perches off..
what size notch will i be needing for 20's? and is there anything in the rear i need to pay attension to?

Front=
Do I need drop spindles? Custom control arms? Can I mod the arms?
will i run into any steering issues? or any other issues?

Thanks to anyone that can help. I've been building minitrucks for over 10 years, just all S-10s and mazdas. Thanks again

Howdy man

dont mean to be a prick, but if you have been building minitrucks for over 10 years, surely you must know how to work out how big a notch needs to be for a certain sized wheel???

its simple maths and 5 minutes...

hell, ive never bagged a truck and i could do it.

Yea I know how it is done, I'm trying to simple save time when i get the truck.. simple questions I am asking and simply looking for a few answers so i have an idea how long its going to take.. Thanks for helping though..

Im going to call bullshit on this thread. But you didnt even give us enough to give you how big the notch must be. as far as the front if its setup right with the hydraulic cylinder then you would just need 2" drop spindles

its pretty simple to figure out rear geometry. Basic math. I have a simple rear setup with a four link if you wanna check out my photo albums. Didn't relocate the tank just moved it up a couple inches. dont drag too often. up front i would recommend spindles definatly. no control arm mods if you have spindles. you have to cut tie rod ends when your done and dont forget to set toe.

rear notch size is a case by case basis. the standard SD notch gives you plenty to work with and you cut off the excess. if you are building your own, youll just have to measure and go from there.

front you will need drop spindles. only steering issue is a bolt on the caliper will try to rub the bag. adjust the steering stop accordingly. controls arms are optional for 20s, but will make your life easier.

Well to Minitrucker68 and ScottXGTR.. Thank you...
now I know I need spindles and control arm are an option. I might just go ahead and make a set of arms for it. and the tank can simply be moved up a little..

Thanks again guys.
I'm getting the truck dropped off in the next few weeks and will prolly start a small build thread.. keep an eye out. I can promise you will like what you will see.. Thanks

as for everyone else....
minissan808=the trucks has hydraulics.. when they were installed it was set at the height that it sits at which is about 4" from the ground...
Jimmy726=as i said twice before you im simply asking questions. i need a spindle, thanks.. as for a notch, what other information could you possibly need?? the truck needs to lay frame on a 20" wheels.. its very straight foraward....
Twiztedfrontier=thanks for the smiley, helped alot

I just want to say that forums like this are dissappearing all over the internet because of immature people being stupid.. its pathetic.

i do my best to keep them in check. we run a laid back forum here, but sometimes these guys welcome everyone who walks in the door with a slap on the ass and a "whats up sugar tits"

if u get drop spindles from beltech u might have to cut the tie rod ends and put a longer thread on it because the drop spindles make it so there is no more adjustment and u will never get it aligned perfect without doing what i said.

i think im on the right lines with that??? not quite sure - i have that problem rightn ow with 2" beltech drop spindles.

jus a heads up

ps - welcome to the forum. we started out at a different one - all of us almost - that went to shit... i wont say the name of it tho.

but after that i looked everywhere for a good site to be a part of, and this one for our nissans, is by far the best one out there. we are a very tight knit community with alot of regulars.

dont let a select few turn u away from the rest of us man.

If you're runnin 20's be ready to tub out the firewall a bit, all of the wiring harness, relays, and shit will have to be relocated on the passenger side...may want to move the battery while you are at it.

In the rear, (I think on the 95) you will have to relocate/remove some ABS and load balancing stuff to make life easier. ICE had some pics up somewhere about how to bypass and reroute the rear brake lines to get rid of that load balancing shit out back. If that wasnt on the 95+, someone else chime in and set me straight.

Also be prepared to move the clutch master and brake booster up and over on the firewall otherwise the drivers side front might get into it when rolling low.

Check out the House Of Hack section, especially on scotty's build. ICE does some badass work and is good at taking pics...we like pics around here man.

Welcome in!

Thanks guys.. I ignore stupid people to begin with but I just had to say something. I've been in this scene for around 15 years and have been building trucks and cars for about 12 now.. I've built some bad rides plenty of time and know alot, but not everything. That why i came here asking.. I have bagged more rides then i can count and put hydros on over 100 vehicles, and like every ride you always run into problems.. Im just trying to eliminate the problems before i get to them.. So thanks alot guys and as soon as I start on it i'll start a thread.

welcome to :IN:

I think what the people were getting at is you didnt give enough details (like tire diameter) to figure out your notch height. Obviously the size of the tire will make a difference to the size of notch needed.

Anyway enjoy your stay you'll find the info you need to get a jump start on problems that you might come across bagging your first HB.

Later

welcome to :IN: nice s10.. good luck on the nissan. to lay on 20..... youll need about a 10" notch and prolly need to at least mod the lower control arms and flip and switch the uppers. thatll keep u from binding up front. other than that u jsut gotta measure your bagbrackets to make sure itll lay out in the end. enjoy your stay here. most of us klnow what were talking about and can help u wherever needed.
