i hear its bootyfull, one of the best places in central america.. just stay near all the tourist hot spots..you go to far out, u might not come back

Suuper mellow!! no violent crime- just thieves. Keep your shit with you at ALL TIMES!! Seriously- even if you are at the beach and your girl is sitting near your backpack, they'll still run up and snatch it! Keep your cards, wallet, passport ect locked in your safe in your room, just take a few colones (most places also take dollars) with you and tie your car/room keys around your neck and you'll be worry free!!
I was in the North Pacific side in Tamarindo- great surf, mango trees, lots of fish in the ocean to eat, (saw crocodiles though!! I hear they keep their distance...) you'll love it!! Speak spanish. it helps. at least try. learn local lingo. eg: if you want to say- "totally awesome... in a "this is the sh#t!" type of way; (don't know the proper spelling) "tu anes" is a local phrase. pronounced "2wonaayz" if someone asks: "como esta?" you can answer: "tuanes" !!
