ya everything is one-off.. my friend thats building it is very talented.
the only thing that was pre-fabbed was my upper control arms, everything else was made in-shop. let me tell you, steel tubing is not cheap either. i still need a ton of tubing and sheetmetal.

the guy who's building the truck drew the rendering. he has a degree in art, auto body collision and hot rod building from greenville tech. he's been my friend for years and i have been raggin him about drawing my truck forever.
the truck is going RHD using the stock nissan steering linkages.
onto the issue with the driveshaft. when the truck was bagged i always had problems with center bearings with a 2 piece shaft and when we put in a one piece i ended up cracking the end of my transmission tailshaft. this go around we are going to prevent this by limiting the amount of lift. dont want any binding going on down there...
this is how much lift i got when the truck was bagged with the stock frame.

this is an option ive been thinking of lately too. everything is not in fine print yet. i was amazed a stock s10 driveshaft fit perfect between the trans and the rear end.

just dont side step the clutch and you'll be fine.

nice steering wheel, is there a centercap?

enfamy
02-20-2009, 04:40 AM
ya we painted the engine with base/clear. the main thing is make sure you use self etching primer on the block so the primer has something to bite to. it took a few hours of degreasing and cleaning just to make sure it was good to go. honestly i bought the covers because they looked so good on your build up thread!!

when you paint the block doesnt the paint burn around the exaust port.
iv seen this happen on a bunch of hotrods, did they just use wrong paint?

Damn it man! Just when I settle on something for my truck (like the stock steering column) you get a billet. Your starting to make the rest of us 720 owners look cheap!

Nice parts man, that engine looks wicked!

LOL i feel ya man!! i wouldnt mind having a stock interior. my whole exterior is going to be stock. my whole deal was my truck is right hand drive and would be just as much (i would imagine) to get a RHD dash with all the parts!!
my plans before driving it again 2 years ago were:
1.body drop
2.right hand drive
3.22's
4.keep the lip bed
5.drag it and tear it up
the thing is i originally only wanted a traditional BD but my old frame was only c notched so we were going to have to build a back clip and a full frame is what we ended up with. because of RHD and fitting the wheels. my plans of building a truck to drag till it falls apart kinda faded away.

loass720
02-22-2009, 02:19 AM
You fit 22's? Do you still have the pinch weld or did you shave it?

I'm looking at mine and I dont think I can get more than a 18 on the front (2.75 bodydrop).

enfamy
02-22-2009, 10:02 PM
well we are going to keep it on the pinch unfortunately. people are going to talk shit too.
oh well

02-23-2009, 12:39 AM
that is one bad azz 720 cant wit to see it all together. "F" the idiots that rag on ya for layin on the pinch molds. mine lays rocker and every one is like," why isnt it on the doors?" my answer, cus thats just rediculous.

loass720
02-24-2009, 03:48 AM
Oh, i'm not saying its bad that its on pinch. Hell if mine wasnt BD when I bought it i'm sure I would go to pinch too.
I was just wondering how you were gonna fit those big ass rims if it was on the rocker.

enfamy
02-24-2009, 11:47 AM
flat rocker would be an option if i had a smooth bed but the lip bed is a few inches shorter. the wheel tubs are gonna be almost flush with the top of the bed rails as it is.. lol

that rendering looks so badass with a smooth bed but i love my datsun tailgate and bed hooks too much

02-28-2009, 12:18 AM
holy crap, i love your 720 buildup...makes me want to start all over, and i'm not even close to done....

eightyfive720
03-06-2009, 01:10 AM
I have to say, this 720 is going to be a big part of the inspiration of mine. starting on the front end chassis work and shit first. im full time work and school this semester though, so the teardown is even taking a while. ill post pics when the fun starts.

but yeah, this truck is fucking sick. i love the tubing, so so sexy.

thanks for the inspiration, bro!

thanks guys! i work full time and a full time student (auto mechanics course) so my progress is really slow. plus my fab guy got a 14 hr day job so progress is to a crawl lol.. i have started doing what i can to help get some stuff done.. i by far am not a skilled welder or anything but theres plenty of welds that need to be grinded down and rewelded and regrinded to keep filler work to a bare minimum.
