I am currently baggin my 96 hardbody and was wondering if i need my ECM for the truck to run. I live in Colorado and there are no emissions or anything. Just thought I would ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Kind of, yeah. It, like, runs everything. Fuel & ignition, dude.

Yes you do....if not it won't do jack shit!

Gotta have it.......you can relocate it also if needed.

haha ya you do, only a fraction of it deals with emmissions. jsut elminate the emmissions crap on your truck if you dont have testing. these would include the egr, catalytic converter, and carbon canister to list a few. But yes as stated it controls everything that makes the engine run.

well what shit are you talking about haha. what does it look like it has to do with? brakes? Exhaust? fuel? i assume you mean the little proportion valve that controls how much braking the rear wheels do when its loaded vs unloaded. i think the frontys still had those?

u have to keep all that emissions 'crap' cause we all have to breathe that air. Besides, there is no good reason to remove it and if u do it wrong the engine will run poor, specially after my96 w/ obd2.

just relocate it, not hard to do just take your time and thik it out, truck wont run to good with it gone and who wants the SES light on all the time, i cant stand that shit, just take the time to relocate it. and if it has the brake valve just bypass that and remove it.

the point of removing all the emmisions bs is good for a lot of reasons. 1 because some of them give you a little more hp (catalytic converter), and 2 that retarded ass evap system is just a giant vacuum (or boost) leak waiting to happen, along with the 6000 vacuum lines that run the egr which is dumb in itself. it simplifies everything and makes it so you only have a few vacuum lines. And no removing the evap wont make it run any different. that just makes the fumes that the gas tank puts off when it expands as it warms up go to the atmosphere instead of the engine. the only one that will really throw a code is the egr, and theres way of bypassing it, or if your getting your ecu tuned you can just take that part of it out. as for being obd2 with the second o2 after the cat, just get a simulator or rewire it and youll be good.

Cool guys, thanks. Just thought I would ask. Oh and I meant the Evap system n' shit, but I figured out what im gonna do. I saved all that shit so in just gonna relocate it. I dont want the check engine light on all the time.

also, with no emissions stuff, you can't get the vehicle registered every year b/c it will not pass the emissions inspections
