either a blower or a turbo...but if you do turbos no one can see them, and you can blow the doors off anyone who tries to race you, and they'll never know what hit em. so turbos get my vote
but i say ixnay on the 24s/choptop, truck is beautiful as it is

I vote for a bigass blower! That thing would just look mean as a mutha. Would you even be able to fit turbos in there? Doesnt seem like you got too much room to work with.

turbo > blower
2 turbos would look amazing on that truck w/ some nice piping and a symetrical build.

I say go turbos cause I have a twin turbo setup on a sbc 350 right now in my CJ Jeep that I will be selling soon. I wanna throw a LS1 into it now and go with a newer twin turbo setup............But give me a few weeks till I get this cast off.

i vote twin turbo cause i agree totally with what jcjcsoccerkid said. its alread a crazy sleeper, being a mini with a sbc 350 in it. if you could stuff twin turbos on it and tuck it under the hood, it would be that much more leathal..
BTW, is that a budwiser bottle as your coolant overflow tank?

Turbos would be cool don't get me wrong, but it wouldn't be a sleeper.....
My question about the turbos is where is he going to shoehorn in an intercooler and it not be seen?

with enough compression the turbos wouldn't have that much lag....... (space is the problem)
If I remember a few companies made a small roots style blower. You also can go with procharger, paxton, and vortech

Depending on how its built and what size turbos you are using, you will have no lag. I have mine in a Jeep that I used in Puerto Rico for mudding alot, I just got it shipped over a few days ago and will be using it as a daily till I get a LS1 for it and built up. But my twin turbo setup is oldschool running a blowthrough carb setup that I did a few years ago, and once I get my cast off. I will be tuning it on the dyno and get it ready to be my daily once again.

twin turbos. from STS. that way no one sees them. I'm thinking of running 1 STS turbo set up on my truck. I see people saying space is an issue for an intercooler on your truck. Put it in the bed, because the STS turbos run of your tail pipe. Then use the side vents like the old mustang shelby's had behind the doors on the rear quarter panels, for air inlets for the inter cooler.

sts turbo kits are garbage. run a decent sized self contained blower with a heavy blower cam and you will love it. from the rear of the truck all you will hear is the heavy cam and then in the front nothing but blower whine !

A blower with a very aggressive cam will always sound nice, but a blower sticking out the hood of a minitruck just wouldnt look right. But thats just me:)

I know there are superchargers setups that dont need to stick out the hood, but when I here blower. I think this

heres my corvette setup. self contained pro charger system with twin front mount intercoolers. bad ass is all i can say and would be sick on a hard body. only issue i can see is you would need a custom set of pipes to run.

i just... really. not knocking anybody's tastes, style, project, or whatever...
but i'm so sick of seeing these giant blowers with the Speedy Bill's shotgun scoop sticking out of a minitruck. Go with the sleeper.. run a centrifugal or a turbo..

1.Dude if you chop the top it will kill the trucks looks, in my openion that is the worst possible mod a person could do to anything. 2. It looks like you hage done your homework and have got a good suspension setup on the truck, BUT its a frame dragger not a street racer. If you invest shit loads of money in a turbo or a blower then it will be for show and not used very much for go. I'de say go for wheels and a couple of enging mods to make that thing sound bad ass, I mean you already got a V8 on a nhardbody for god sakes.:2:

i hate thoes kits, i ran into a guy out in phoenix who had a z06 like mine with the sts kit on it, all he did was talk talk talk on how great it was and how it was so much better than my "small" d1sc procharger (that made 584 rwhp). finnally i got him to run me and it was a joke, i put about 4 cars on him fast and he shut down. had nothing to say after
i say go self contained on the supercharger but i also agree with the fact that this is a mini and it would make it not so everydayable. get a nice set of custom billet wheels, paint and interior, dress up that 350 and you will be happy for sure.

Wanna come down to Florida and feel what a well tuned setup from STS will do on a Z06? There are a few driving around, and from what I see and feel. Its actually a great setup.
You gotta also realize that anybody can do so much to the car to make it faster and handle better. But just because you do all that to your car, it will not make you a better driver at all. You gotta know the car and know the limit of the car to able to push it to the limit.:)

phoenix is a haven for some of the baddest z06's on the planet. plus i owned a procharged z06 as seen in the pictures. the very repultable shop that did all the work on that car would not consider putting the sts kit on it. its junk but believe what you want the dyno numbers prove it.

12-17-2008, 08:08 PM
Ok, I get you. So you go by what a shop says about a product. Gotcha. The invitation is there, and there are a few people that run around Orlando and Tampa that are making 600+whp. Depending on which one you wanna ride in and see dyno results from. I know there is alot of aftermarket parts that are not worth a damn, and STS isnt one of them.

thats a great call, i was going to mention something along thoes lines because you can have all the power in the world but if ya cant stop it ya got nothing. i would look for an upgraded brake kit which with the 5 lug should be pretty easy.

Do you have a engine bay pic gettwisted? Post up a pic of your bay if you need any ideas on how to run the turbos if you are gonna mount them in there. Or if you are going to use the STS setup, then I am pretty sure you can figure something out;)

No anything can be done but I know with just my dual exhaust that space under there is at a premium...just wondering how you would go about running them especially with a BD

yup. it can probably be done, but you probably gonna have little to no leg and interior room. so if u dont like to drive the truck around then go for it.
honestly I would do paint first...you already have a stout engine why turbo it? Your still gonna have a truck that handles like it's on airbags which isnt ideal for making a really fast truck. Anyway it's your truck you can do whatever the hell it is you want but running a turbo setup on a bagged and bodydropped truck will be "fun" to plumb :2:

notch the floor of the truck - works the same as a body drop :D - not all tubing has to be circular either. i guess it would take some innovation for it to work, but that's what makes it fun - we all like a challenge!

i was jus thinkin about under my truck - the piping can run along the frame - unless your exhaust dumps off before the axle like mine, the only real problem is getting it over the axle to the rear.
anyone else have any thoughts on how u would mount the rear turbo?

(sick bed by the way man jus sick!)
jus picture 2 badass turbos in 88hb's bed -- - - You Can Not Tell Me It Would Not Be The $%*()#)( %)(%)( )( 4*@*$*(&*(_%$*()#*!!!!!
sure there will be more oil to and return plumbing to do - maybe even a trick catch can/reservoir between the turbos too
oooh so much more potential in looks/styling/perfermance with turbos!
LOL
ok before you run and get and STS setup what is your comp ratio on your 350? I know mine is almost 11:1 and that wouldnt lend itself to boost
everyone is talking about what a sleeper it will be but it's not a sleeper when all you do is spin the tires (I know from personal experience!)
If you are doing it for the (why the hell not) factor then go for it...but if you are expecting it to blow doors off cars with those 22's and bags you will be disappointed sorry

I am going to snap some pics in tomorrow of my 350 with a twin turbo setup, maybe that will give you an idea of how to run it. Mine was built on a budget and is only making 550whp on low boost. I used stock ported manifolds, just switched sides and made an adapter to mount the turbos on the manifolds.
